शब्द "E!?'" (बरकाह) का शाब्दिक अर्थ "बरकत" है, यानी किसी भी अच्छी चीज़ की लगातार बड़ी मात्रा। विद्वान इस शब्द और इसके अर्थ को शब्द "E!?'" (बिरकाह) तक भी ले जाते हैं, जिसका अर्थ पानी की बड़ी मात्रा है। यह कोई भी चौड़ा बर्तन या पानी का जमाव है जिसमें लगातार बड़ी मात्रा में पानी रहता है। इसी तरह, बरकत भी अच्छाई की लगातार बड़ी मात्रा है। अतः इस कथन का अर्थ है: जो कुछ तूने मुझे दिया है, उस पर बरकतें उतार।

 (Barakah) “blessing” literally means a lot of anything good that is continuous. The scholars even trace this word and its meaning back to the word E!?'  (Birkah) which means a large amount of water. It is any wide container or gathering of water that continuously contains a large amount of water. Similarly, blessing is also a continuously large amount of good. So the meaning of this statement is: Send blessings down upon that which You have given me.

"in what You have given" इस वाक्यांश में वह सब कुछ शामिल है जो अल्लाह ने हमें दिया है — धन, संतान, ज्ञान और वह सब कुछ जो अल्लाह (SWT) ने हमें प्रदान किया है। इसलिए, आप अल्लाह से प्रार्थना करते हैं कि वह इन सभी चीज़ों में बरकत डाल दे। यदि अल्लाह उस चीज़ में बरकत नहीं डालता जो उसने आपको दी है, तो निश्चय ही आपसे बहुत सारी भलाई रोक दी जाएगी।
