A great number of preeminent Muslims died on a Friday. It was on a Friday, for example, that ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān was assassinated and ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib struck down, though he expired on the Sunday; and on a Friday that al-Ḥusayn was killed.

Al-ʿAbbās ibn ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib, al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī, Ibn Sīrīn, and others too numerous to mention also died on a Friday.
