(1) Siyaam en árabe significa abstenerse; en el Islam significa abstenerse de las cosas que rompen el ayuno, desde el amanecer hasta la puesta del sol, habiendo hecho primero la intención (niyyah) de ayunar.

(1) Siyaam in Arabic means abstaining; in Islam it means abstaining from things that break the fast, from dawn until sunset, having first made the intention (niyyah) to fast.
