जाफ़र इब्न अम्र अल-दुमरी कहते हैं:

Ja‘far ibn ‘Amr al-Dumarī says:

'उबैद अल्लाह इब्न 'अदी इब्न खियार और मैं हिम्स [सीरिया] गए। उस समय वहशी भी हिम्स में बसे हुए थे, इसलिए हम उनसे मिलने गए। जैसे ही उन्होंने 'उबैद अल्लाह को देखा, उन्होंने पूछा, "क्या तुम 'अदी इब्न खियार के बेटे हो?"

‘Ubaid Allah ibn ‘Adī ibn Khiyór and I went to Hims [Syria]. At that time, Waúshī was also settled in ûimü; therefore we went to go and meet him. As soon as he saw ‘Ubaid Allóh, he asked, “Are you the son of ‘Adī ibn Khiyór?”.

"उबैदुल्लाह ने उत्तर दिया, "हाँ, मैं उसका बेटा हूँ। लेकिन तुम मुझे कैसे जानते हो, मैं तुमसे पहले कभी नहीं मिला।"।

‘Ubaid Allóh replied, “Yes, I am his son. But how do you know me, I have never met you before.”.

वहशी ने उत्तर दिया, "यह सच है कि हम पहले कभी नहीं मिले, लेकिन जब तुम पैदा हुए थे तब मैंने तुम्हें उठाकर दाई को सौंपा था। जब मैंने तुम्हें उठाया था तो सब कुछ ढका हुआ था, सिवाय तुम्हारे पैरों के। आज जब तुम आए तो मैंने तुम्हारे पैर देखे और तुम्हें पहचान लिया।"

Waúshī replied, “It is true we have never met before, but when you were born I picked you up and gave you to the mid-wife. When I picked you up, everything was covered except your feet. Today, when you came I saw your feet and recognized you.”.

वहशी ने उबैदुल्लाह इब्न अदी इब्न ख़ियार को कितने वर्षों बाद देखा? हाफ़िज़ इब्न हजर फ़त्हुल बारी में लिखते हैं, "जन्म के बाद, उसने उसे पचास वर्ष बाद दूसरी बार देखा।"14 और आश्चर्यजनक बात यह है कि वहशी ने उसे तुरंत पहचान लिया।15

Waúshī saw ‘Ubaid Allah ibn ‘Adi ibn Khiyór after how many years? Hafiz ibn Hajar writes in Fatú al-Barī, “After birth, he saw him for the second time after fifty years”.14 And the amazing part is that Wahshī recognized him immediately.15

इतिहास की पुस्तकों और रावियों (हदीस के वर्णनकर्ताओं) की जीवनियों की पुस्तकों में ऐसी घटनाएँ भरी पड़ी हैं। पहली बात यह है कि अल्लाह (SWTH) ने उन्हें असाधारण स्मरणशक्ति प्रदान की थी, और दूसरी बात यह कि उन्हें हदीसों से इतना लगाव था कि उन्होंने इसके ज्ञान को प्राप्त करने के लिए हर कदम उठाया और अपनी सामर्थ्य के अनुसार हर संभव प्रयास किया। इस संबंध में उनके परिश्रम और कठिनाइयों को हमारे समय में समझना और अनुभव करना कठिन नहीं है।

The books of history and the books on the biographies of the narrators are full of such incidents. Firstly Allah (SWTH) blessed them with extraordinary memories, and, secondly, they were so passionate about ahadith that they took every step and made every effort within their means to gain knowledge of it. Their endeavors and hardships in this regard are not difficult for us to realize and understand in our times.
