सन 617 ईस्वी में फ़ारसियों ने रोमन साम्राज्य को लगभग दुनिया के नक़्शे से मिटा दिया था, जब "कैसर एबरवीज़ द्वितीय" की सेनाएँ नील घाटी में पहुँचीं और रोमन साम्राज्य के बड़े हिस्सों पर क़ब्ज़ा कर लिया। कुछ ही वर्षों में फ़ारसी सेना सीरिया और मिस्र के कुछ हिस्सों पर नियंत्रण पाने में सफल हो गई, और उनकी फ़ौजों ने उत्तर में अन्ताकिया पर भी क़ब्ज़ा कर लिया, जो रोमन साम्राज्य के अंत की स्पष्ट तस्वीर थी। यहाँ तक कि हेरक्लियस भी क़ुस्तुंतुनिया से भागना चाहता था, लेकिन सर्वोच्च रोमन पुरोहित ने उसे सहनशील रहने और फ़ारसियों से अपमानजनक संधि-विराम माँगने पर राज़ी कर लिया। इन सभी घटनाओं के बीच, और सभी अपेक्षाओं के विपरीत, पैग़म्बर मुहम्मद ﷺ ने घोषणा की कि रोमी कुछ वर्षों में फ़ारसियों पर विजय प्राप्त करेंगे, और यह नौ वर्षों से अधिक नहीं होगा, जैसा कि ईश्वर की ओर से उन पर उतारा गया था: {रोमी पराजित हो गए हैं। निकट की धरती में (सीरिया, इराक़, जॉर्डन और फ़िलिस्तीन), और वे अपनी पराजय के बाद, तीन से नौ वर्षों के भीतर विजयी होंगे। इस मामले का निर्णय, इन घटनाओं से पहले और बाद में, केवल अल्लाह के हाथ में है (रोमियों की फ़ारसियों से पराजय से पहले, और उसके बाद, यानी फ़ारसियों की रोमियों से पराजय)। और उस दिन, ईमान वाले (यानी मुसलमान) प्रसन्न होंगे (अल्लाह द्वारा रोमियों को फ़ारसियों के विरुद्ध दी गई विजय से), अल्लाह की सहायता से वह जिसकी चाहता है सहायता करता है, और वह प्रभुत्वशाली, अत्यंत दयावान है।} (अर-रूम: 2-5)।
In 617 C.E., the Persians almost erased the Roman Empire from the world map, as the troops of “Caesar Eiberweez the second” arrived in the Nile Valley, and captured great parts of the Roman Empire. In a few years, the Persian army was able to control Syria and parts of Egypt, and their troops took over Antioch in the north, which was a clear picture showing the end of the Roman Empire. Even Hercules wanted to flee from Constantinople, but the highest Roman priest convinced him to be tolerant and to request a humiliated truce with the Persians. In the middle of all these events and against the entire expectations, prophet Muhammad (PBUH) announced that the Romans would be victorious over the Persians in few years, not more than nine years, as in what was revealed to him by God: {The Romans have been defeated. In the nearer land (Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Palestine), and they, after their defeat, will be victorious, within three to nine years. The decision of the matter, before and after (these events) is only with Allâh, (before the defeat of Romans by the Persians, and after, i.e. the defeat of the Persians by the Romans). And on that Day, the believers (i.e. Muslims) will rejoice (at the victory given by Allâh to the Romans against the Persians), With the help of Allâh, He helps whom He wills, and He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful.} (Al-Room: 2-5).
