জা'ফর ইবনে 'আমর আদ-দুমারী বলেন:

Ja‘far ibn ‘Amr al-Dumarī says:

‘উবাইদুল্লাহ ইবনে আদী ইবনে খিয়ার এবং আমি হিমস [সিরিয়া] গেলাম। সে সময় ওয়াহশীও হিমসে বসবাস করছিলেন; তাই আমরা তাঁর সঙ্গে দেখা করতে গেলাম। উবাইদুল্লাহকে দেখামাত্র তিনি জিজ্ঞেস করলেন, “তুমি কি আদী ইবনে খিয়ারের ছেলে?”

‘Ubaid Allah ibn ‘Adī ibn Khiyór and I went to Hims [Syria]. At that time, Waúshī was also settled in ûimü; therefore we went to go and meet him. As soon as he saw ‘Ubaid Allóh, he asked, “Are you the son of ‘Adī ibn Khiyór?”.

‘উবাইদুল্লাহ উত্তর দিলেন, “হ্যাঁ, আমি তাঁর ছেলে। কিন্তু আপনি আমাকে কীভাবে চিনলেন? আমি তো আপনার সঙ্গে আগে কখনো দেখা করিনি।”

‘Ubaid Allóh replied, “Yes, I am his son. But how do you know me, I have never met you before.”.

ওয়াহশী উত্তর দিলেন, "এটা সত্য যে আমরা আগে কখনো দেখা করিনি, কিন্তু আপনি যখন জন্মগ্রহণ করেছিলেন, তখন আমি আপনাকে তুলে নিয়ে ধাত্রীর কাছে দিয়েছিলাম। যখন আমি আপনাকে তুলেছিলাম, তখন আপনার পা ছাড়া সবকিছু ঢাকা ছিল। আজ আপনি যখন এসেছেন, তখন আমি আপনার পা দেখে আপনাকে চিনতে পেরেছি।"

Waúshī replied, “It is true we have never met before, but when you were born I picked you up and gave you to the mid-wife. When I picked you up, everything was covered except your feet. Today, when you came I saw your feet and recognized you.”.

ওয়াহশী কতো বছর পর উবাইদুল্লাহ ইবনে আদি ইবনে খিয়ার-কে দেখেছিলেন? হাফিয ইবনে হাজার ফাতহুল বারীতে লিখেছেন, "জন্মের পর তিনি তাকে দ্বিতীয়বার পঞ্চাশ বছর পর দেখেছিলেন"।১৪ আর বিস্ময়কর ব্যাপার হলো যে ওয়াহশী তাকে সঙ্গে সঙ্গে চিনতে পেরেছিলেন।15

Waúshī saw ‘Ubaid Allah ibn ‘Adi ibn Khiyór after how many years? Hafiz ibn Hajar writes in Fatú al-Barī, “After birth, he saw him for the second time after fifty years”.14 And the amazing part is that Wahshī recognized him immediately.15

ইতিহাসের গ্রন্থ ও বর্ণনাকারীদের জীবনী-বিষয়ক গ্রন্থসমূহ এমন ঘটনায় পরিপূর্ণ। প্রথমত, আল্লাহ (SWT) তাঁদেরকে অসাধারণ স্মরণশক্তি দান করেছিলেন, এবং দ্বিতীয়ত, হাদীসের প্রতি তাঁদের আগ্রহ এতটাই গভীর ছিল যে, হাদীসের জ্ঞান অর্জনের জন্য তাঁরা প্রতিটি পদক্ষেপ নিয়েছেন এবং সাধ্যমতো সকল প্রচেষ্টা চালিয়েছেন। এ বিষয়ে তাঁদের পরিশ্রম ও কষ্টভোগ আমাদের যুগে উপলব্ধি ও অনুধাবন করা আমাদের জন্য কঠিন নয়।

The books of history and the books on the biographies of the narrators are full of such incidents. Firstly Allah (SWTH) blessed them with extraordinary memories, and, secondly, they were so passionate about ahadith that they took every step and made every effort within their means to gain knowledge of it. Their endeavors and hardships in this regard are not difficult for us to realize and understand in our times.
