Allah the Almighty says:

{Они следовали тому, что шайтаны (дьяволы) возводили на царство Сулеймана (Соломона) (ложно приписывая ему колдовство). Сулейман не был неверующим, но шайтаны были неверующими, обучая людей колдовству и тому, что было ниспослано в Вавилоне двум ангелам, Харуту и Мараруту. Но эти два (ангела) никого не обучали, пока не говорили: «Мы лишь испытание, так что не будь неверующим (изучая это колдовство у нас)». И от этих (ангелов) люди учатся тому, чем разлучают мужа с женой, но они не могли никому навредить иначе, как с дозволения Аллаха. И они учатся тому, что вредит им и не приносит пользы. И ведь они знали, что покупающие его (колдовство) не будут иметь доли в Последней жизни. И как же плохо то, за что они продали свои души, если бы они знали. И если бы они уверовали и остерегались зла и боялись Аллаха, то награда от их Господа была бы куда лучше, если бы они знали!}. (Аль-Бакара, 102, 103)

{They followed what the Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulaiman (Solomon). Sulaiman did not disbelieve, but the Shayatin (devils) disbelieved, teaching men magic and such things that came down at Babylon to the two angels, Harut and Marut but neither of these two (angels) taught anyone (such things) till they had said, "We are only for trial, so disbelieve not (by learning this magic from us). "And from these (angels) people learn that by which they cause separation between man and his wife, but they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's Leave. And they learn that which harms them and profits them not. And indeed they knew that the buyers of it (magic) would have no share in the Hereafter. And how bad indeed was that for which they sold their own selves, if they but knew. And if they had believed and guarded themselves from evil and kept their duty to Allah, far better would have been the reward from their Lord, if they but knew!}. (Al-Baqarah, 102, 103)

Передают со слов Аль-Уфи в его тафсире, со слов Ибн Аббаса (да будет доволен им Аллах) относительно слов Аллаха: {И следовали тому, что шайтаны читали в царстве Сулеймана. Не кафирствовал Сулейман, но кафирствовали шайтаны, обучая людей колдовству и тому, что было ниспослано двум ангелам, Харуту и Маруту, в Вавилоне. Но они не обучали никого, пока не говорили: "Мы — лишь испытание, не будь же кафиром (изучая это колдовство)"...} Когда Сулейман лишился своего царства, многие из людей и джиннов отступились и последовали за своими желаниями. Но когда Аллах вернул Сулейману его царство, и отступники вновь стали следовать прямым путём, Сулейман забрал их священные писания и закопал их под своим троном. Вскоре Сулейман (мир ему) умер. Вскоре люди и джинны откопали закопанные писания и сказали: «Это была книга, ниспосланная Аллахом Сулейману, который скрыл её от нас». Они приняли её как свою религию, и Аллах Всевышний ниспослал Своё слово: {Когда же к ним пришёл посланник от Аллаха, подтверждающий то, что было у них, часть тех, кому было дано Писание, отбросила Книгу Аллаха за спину, словно они не знали}. (Аль-Бакара, 101), и они следовали тому, что шайтаны выдавали, то есть музыкальным инструментам, игре и всему, что отвращает от поминания Аллаха.

Narrated Al-`Ufi in his interpretation on the authority of Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with him) pertaining to Allah's Statement {They followed what the Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulaiman (Solomon). Sulaiman did not disbelieve, but the Shayatin (devils) disbelieved, teaching men magic and such things that came down at Babylon to the two angels, Harut and Marut but neither of these two (angels) taught anyone (such things) till they had said, "We are only for trial, so disbelieve not (by learning this magic from us).”...} When Sulaiman lost his kingdom, great numbers from among mankind and the jinn renegaded and followed their lusts. But, when Allah restored to Sulaiman his kingdom and the renegade came to follow the Straight Path once again, Sulaiman seized their holy scriptures which he buried underneath his throne. Shortly after, Sulaiman (Peace be upon him) died. In no time, the men and the Jinn uncovered the buried scriptures and said: This was a book revealed by Allah to Sulaiman who hid it from us. They took it as their religion and Allah the Almighty revealed His Saying: {And when there came to them a Messenger from Allah confirming what was with them, a party of those who were given the Scripture threw away the Book of Allah behind their backs as if they did not know!}. (Al-Baqarah, 101) and they followed what the devils gave out, i.e. musical instruments, play and all that blocks the remembrance of Allah.

Он знал Величайшее Имя Аллаха и записывал то, что ему приказывал Сулайман, а затем закапывал это под трон. Narrated Ibn Abu Hatim: I was told by Abu Sa' id Al-Ashaj after Abu Usamah after Al-A' mash after Al-Minhal after Sa'id Ibn Jubair after Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with him) as saying: Asif was Sulaiman's scribe. He knew the Greatest Name of Allah and used to write what he was ordered to by Sulaiman, then, bury it underneath the throne. After Sulaiman's death, the devils got it out and wrote between each two lines magical and blasphemous things. They said:

«Это то, что применял на практике и чему следовал Сулайман.» Невежественные люди из числа народа считали Сулаймана неверующим и продолжали порицать его, пока не был послан Мухаммад ﷺ с Величественным Кораном, в котором сказано:

"this is what Sulaiman used to apply and act upon." The ignorant among the people regarded Sulaiman as a disbeliever and continued to insult him till Muhammad (Peace be upon him) was sent with the Glorious Qur'an that reads:

{Они последовали за тем, что возвещали шайтаны (дьяволы) о волшебстве во времена Сулеймана (Соломона). Сулейман не был неверующим, но шайтаны были неверующими}.

{They followed what the, Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulaiman (Solomon). Sulaiman did not disbelieve, but the Shayatin (devils) disbelieved}.

Narrated Ibn Jarir: I was told by Abu As-Sa'ib Salamah Ibn Junadah As- Sawa'i after Abu Mu`awiyah after Al-A`mash after Al-Minhal after Sa`id Ibn Jubair on the authority of Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with him) as saying:

Когда Сулейман хотел справить нужду или сблизиться с кем-либо из своих жён, он отдавал своё кольцо женщине по имени Аль-Джаradа. Когда Аллах Всевышний хотел испытать Сулеймана, Он отдал кольцо этой женщине. После этого шайтан явился к ней в облике Сулеймана и забрал у неё кольцо. Когда шайтан надел кольцо, все люди, джинны и дьяволы подчинились ему. Затем Сулейман пришёл к ней за своим кольцом, но она сказала: «Ты лжец, ты не Сулейман». Так Сулейман понял, что это было испытание от Аллаха Всевышнего.

When Sulaiman wanted to answer the call of nature or to make love with any of his wives, he used to give his ring to a woman called Al-Jaradah. When Allah the Almighty wanted to afflict Sulaiman, he gave his ring to that woman. Afterwards, Satan came to her in the form of Sulaiman and took the ring from her. When Satan put the ring on, all mankind, the jinn and Devils submitted to him. Then, Sulaiman came seeking his ring from her and she said: "You are a liar, you are not Sulaiman." Thus, Sulaiman knew that it was a test from Allah the Almighty.

Upon this, the devils were free to do whatever they wished. So, they wrote down books of black magic and blasphemy which they buried underneath the throne of Sulaiman. After Sulaiman's death, they uncovered these books and said to the people: Verily, Sulaiman used to prevail with the help of these books.

Следовательно, люди отреклись от Сулаймана и объявили его неверующим вплоть до прихода Пророка Мухаммада ﷺ.

Consequently, the people declared their innocence of Sulaiman and declared him to be a disbeliever till the advent of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)

Кто принёс аят Корана, который гласит: {Сулейман не был неверующим, но шайтаны были неверующими}. Затем Ибн Джарир сказал: мне передал Ибн Хамид, после Джарира, после Хусейна ибн `Абдуррахмана, после `Имрана, что он говорил:

who came with the Qur'anic Verse that reads: {Sulaiman did not disbelieve, but the Shayatin (devils) disbelieved}. Then, Ibn Jarir said: I was told by Ibn Hamid after Jarir after Husain Ibn `Abdur Rahman after `Imran as saying:

Пока мы были у Ибн `Аббаса (да будет доволен им Аллах), пришёл один человек, и Ибн `Аббас спросил его: «Откуда ты?» Тот ответил: «Из Ирака».

While we were with Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them), a man came and Ibn `Abbas asked him: Where do you come from? The man said: from Iraq.

Ибн `Аббас спросил: «Какой город?» Тот ответил: «Куфа». Ибн `Аббас спросил: «Какие последние новости там?» Тот ответил: «Я оставил их говорящими о том, что `Али отправляется к ним». Ибн `Аббас (да будет доволен им Аллах) сказал: «Как ты смеешь так говорить! Если бы мы считали, что (он уходит от нас к жителям Куфы), мы бы не женились на его жёнах и не делили бы его имущество между собой. Однако я скажу тебе правду: ангелы спускались на облака и упоминали то или иное дело, предопределённое на Небесах. Дьяволы украдкой подслушивали такое известие, спускались и внушали его прорицателям, а те добавляли к нему сто собственных лжей. Люди верили им и считали их заслуживающими доверия. Аллах Всевышний сообщил Сулейману об этом деле и позволил ему закопать эту ложь под своим престолом. После его смерти один из дьяволов сказал: "Я могу указать вам на самое дорогое и драгоценное сокровище Сулеймана. Оно находится под его престолом"».

Ibn `Abbas asked: which city? The man said: Kufa. Ibn `Abbas asked: What is the latest news there? The man said: I left them talking about `Ali's departing for them. Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with him) said: how dare you say so! If we felt that (he is departing us for the people of Kufa), we would not marry his women, or divide his properties among us. However, I will tell you the truth: the angels used to descend on the clouds and mention this or that matter decreed in the Heaven. The devils listen stealthily to such a matter, come down to inspire the soothsayers with it, and the latter would add to it one hundred lies of their own. The people believe in them and regard them trustworthy. Allah the Almighty informed Sulaiman with the matter and enabled him to bury these lies under his throne. After his death, one of the devils said: I can lead you to Sulaiman's dearest and most precious treasure. It is under his throne.

Аллах Всевышний ниспослал: {Они последовали тому, что шайтаны (дьяволы) передавали (ложно, о магии) во времена Сулеймана (Соломона). Сулейман не был неверующим, но шайтаны были неверующими, обучая людей магии и тому, что было ниспослано в Вавилоне двум ангелам, Гаруту и Мараруту. Но ни один из этих двух (ангелов) никого не обучал (такому), пока не говорил: "Мы лишь испытание, так что не будь неверующим (изучая эту магию у нас)". И от этих (ангелов) люди учатся тому, чем разлучают мужа с женой, но они не могли навредить никому, кроме как с дозволения Аллаха. Они учатся тому, что вредит им и не приносит пользы. И, поистине, они знали, что покупающие её (магию) не будут иметь доли в Последней жизни}.

Consequently, they uncovered it and said: this is magic. Afterwards, it continued to be copied and acted upon and what the Iraqi people practice nowadays is nothing but its remnants. Allah the Almighty revealed: {They followed what the Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulaiman (Solomon). Sulaiman did not disbelieve, but the Shayatin (devils) disbelieved, teaching men magic and such things that came down at Babylon to the two angels, Harut and Marut but neither of these two (angels) taught anyone (such things) till they had said, "We are only for trial, so disbelieve not (by learning this magic from us). " And from these (angels) people learn that by which they cause separation between man, and his wife, but they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's Leave. And they learn that which harms them and profits them not. And indeed they knew that the buyers of it (magic) would have no share in the Hereafter}.

As-Sadiy said: Слова Аллаха: {Они последовали за тем, что шайтаны распространяли (ложно, о колдовстве) при жизни Сулеймана (Соломона). Сулейман не был неверующим, но шайтаны

As-Sadiy said: Allah's Saying: {They followed what the Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulaiman (Solomon). Sulaiman did not disbelieve, but the Shayatin (devils)

{disbelieved}, то есть шайтаны прежде тайком подслушивали беседы ангелов о том, что происходит с людьми на земле: о смерти, о сокрытом или о божественных предопределениях. Затем они спускались, чтобы внушить это прорицателям, а те передавали это людям. Люди верили им и считали их заслуживающими доверия. Раз за разом прорицатели доверяли шайтанам, которые затем добавляли к каждому слову по сто собственных лживых слов. Люди начали записывать эти сведения, и среди сынов Исраила распространилось мнение, что джинны знают сокрытое. Сулейман поспешно собрал все эти записи, поместил их в ларец и закопал под своим троном. Все шайтаны, которые пытались даже приблизиться к ларцу, сгорали заживо. Сулейман объявил, что обезглавит всякого, кто утверждает, что шайтаны знают сокрытое. После смерти Сулеймана и смерти учёных-богобоязненных, хорошо знавших это, один шайтан явился к людям в облике человека и сказал: «Я приведу вас к вечному сокровищу, которое никогда не иссякнет». Он велел им копать под троном Сулеймана и сам встал в сторону. Он сказал им: «Убейте меня, если ничего не найдёте». Они выкопали и нашли эти записи. Тогда шайтан сказал: «Лишь благодаря этой магии Сулейман смог подчинить себе людей, джиннов и птиц». После этого он улетел. Пошли слухи и распространилось мнение, что Сулейман был колдуном. Сыны Исраила хранили эти записи и спорили с Пророком Мухаммадом ﷺ.

disbelieved}, i.e. the devils used to listen stealthily to the talks of the angels concerning what happens to those on earth: death, unseen matters or divine ordainments. Then, they come down to inspire the soothsayers with it and the latter would tell the people with it. The people believe in them and regard them trustworthy. Time after time, the soothsayers trusted the devils who later on used to add to each word one-hundred lies of their own. The people started to write down these matters and it circulated among the Children of Israel that the Jinn know the Unseen. Sulaiman moved quickly and gathered all these writings and put them in a chest and buried it under his throne. All the devils who tried to even approach the chest were burnt alive. Sulaiman declared that he would behead anyone who claims that the devils know the Unseen. After Sulaiman's death and that of the godly-scholars who knew it well, a devil came in the form of a human being to the people and said: I will lead you to an everlasting treasure that will never run out. He ordered them to dig under Sulaiman's throne and he took a side. He said to them: kill me if you find nothing. They dug it and found these writings. Thereupon, the devil said: Only with this magic, Sulaiman could overcome mankind, the Jinn and birds. Then, he flew away. It was rumored and circulated that Sulaiman had been a sorcerer. The Children of Israel kept these writings and disputed with Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)

Однако Аллах Всевышний открыл ему Своё слово: {Они последовали за тем, что шайтаны передавали (ложно о колдовстве) при жизни Сулеймана (Соломона). Сулейман не был неверующим, но шайтаны были неверующими}.

regarding them. But Allah the Almighty revealed to him His Saying: {They followed what the Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulaiman (Solomon). Sulaiman did not disbelieve, but the Shayatin (devils) disbelieved}.

Передаётся от Ар-Раби' ибн Анаса: иудеи спрашивали Пророка Мухаммада ﷺ о вопросах из Торы, и каждый раз, когда они спрашивали его, Аллах открывал ему то, чем он побеждал и одолевал их.

Narrated Ar-Rabi' Ibn Anas: the Jews used to ask Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) about matters from the Torah, and every time they ask him, Allah reveals to him that with which he defeats and overcomes them.

Тогда они сказали: Мухаммад знает о том, что было ниспослано нам, лучше нас самих! Затем они спросили его о колдовстве, и Аллах ниспослал Своё Откровение: {Они последовали тому, что шайтаны выдавали (ложно о колдовстве) во времена Сулеймана (Соломона). Сулейман не был неверующим, но шайтаны были неверующими, обучая людей колдовству и тому, что было ниспослано в Вавилоне двум ангелам, Харуту и Мараду}. И Он сообщил Своему Пророку Мухаммаду ﷺ

Thereupon, they said: Muhammad knows what has been revealed to us better than we do! Then, they asked him about sorcery and Allah revealed His Statement: {They followed what the Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulaiman (Solomon). Sulaiman did not disbelieve, but the Shayatin (devils) disbelieved, teaching men magic and such things that came down at Babylon to the two angels, Harut and Marut}. And He informed His Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)

что дьяволы написали книгу о колдовстве и гадании и закопали её под троном Сулеймана. Воистину, Сулейман не обладал знанием о сокрытом.

that the devils wrote a book about sorcery and soothsaying and buried it under Sulaiman's throne. Verily, Sulaiman was not knowledgeable about the Unseen.

Когда он умер, шайтаны достали эту магию и обманули людей, сказав:

When he died, the devils got that magic out and deceived the people by saying:

Это то знание, которое Сулейман тайно скрывал от вас. Пророк Мухаммад ﷺ сообщил иудеям об этом повествовании, и они ушли, опустив головы, побеждённые и униженные.

this is the knowledge which Sulaiman used to secretly keep from you. Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) informed the Jews of that narration and they went out lowering their heads defeated and humiliated.

Муджахид сказал относительно слов Аллаха: {Они последовали тому, что шайтаны (дьяволы) передавали (ложно о колдовстве) во времена Сулеймана (Соломона). Сулейман не был неверующим, но шайтаны были неверующими, обучая людей колдовству и тому, что было ниспослано в Вавилоне двум ангелам, Гаруту и Маруту}: дьяволы имели обыкновение тайком подслушивать беседы ангелов и добавлять к услышанному двести лживых слов. Затем Сулейман завладел тем, что они записали, а после его смерти они вновь получили это и обучили людей, и это была не что иное, как колдовство.

Mujahid said pertaining to Allah's Statement: {They followed what the Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulaiman (Solomon). Sulaiman did not disbelieve, but the Shayatin (devils) disbelieved, teaching men magic and such things that came down at Babylon to the two angels, Harut and Marut}, the devils used to listen stealthily to the discussions of the angels and add to what they heard twohundred lies. Then, Sulaiman seized what they wrote and after his death they regained it and taught it to the people, it was nothing but blackmagic.

Саид ибн Джубайр сказал: Сулейман разыскивал и собирал колдовство шайтанов и хранил его, зарыв под своим троном. Шайтаны не могли до него добраться, и тогда они внушили людям, что это знание, с помощью которого Сулейман смог подчинить себе джиннов, ветер и прочее, и что оно зарыто под его собственным троном. Впоследствии люди извлекли его и стали им заниматься. Позже жители Хиджаза говорили: Сулейман занимался колдовством. По этому поводу Аллах Всевышний ниспослал Свои слова: {Они последовали тому, что шайтаны распространяли (ложно о колдовстве) во времена правления Сулеймана (Соломона). Сулейман не был неверующим, но шайтаны были неверующими, обучая людей колдовству и тому, что было ниспослано в Вавилоне двум ангелам, Харуту и Маруту}. Мухаммад ибн Ishaq ибн Ясар сказал: когда шайтаны узнали о смерти Сулеймана, они записали виды колдовства (магии) следующим образом: для достижения таких-то целей совершайте такие-то действия. Они собрали все это в книгу и запечатали её перстнем с надписью, как на перстне Сулеймана, и озаглавили её: «Это то, что написал Асиф ибн Бархия по приказу царя Сулеймана ибн Дауда». Затем они зарыли её под троном (Сулеймана). Спустя некоторое время сыны Израиля извлекли её и сказали:

Sa'id Ibn Jubair said: Sulaiman used to look for and capture the magic of the devils and keep it buried under his throne. The devils could not reach it and thus they inspired to the people that it is the knowledge with which Sulaiman was able to overcome the Jinn, the wind, etc., and that it is buried under his own throne. Afterwards, the people got it out and practiced it. Later, the people of the Hejaz said: Sulaiman used to practice sorcery. Upon this, Allah the Almighty revealed His Saying: {They followed what the Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulaiman (Solomon). Sulaiman did not disbelieve, but the Shayatin (devils) disbelieved, teaching men magic and such things that came down at Babylon to the two angels, Harut and Marut}. Muhammad Ibn Ishaq Ibn Yasar said: when the devils knew of the death of Sulaiman, they wrote down types of sorcery (magic) as thus: to fulfill such and such matters, practice such and such (procedures). They gathered all these in a book and sealed it with a ring bearing the inscription found on Sulaiman's ring and titled it with: This is what was written by Asif Ibn Barkhiya by order of King Sulaiman Ibn Dawud. Then, they buried it under the throne (of Sulaiman). After some time, the Children of Israel got it out and said:

Тогда Аллах Всевышний ниспослал Своё слово: {Они последовали за тем, что шайтаны (дьяволы) возводили на царство Сулеймана (Соломона). Не Сулейман был неверующим, но шайтаны были неверующими, обучая людей колдовству и тому, что было ниспослано в Вавилоне двум ангелам, Харуту и Маруту. Но эти двое (ангелов) никого не обучали, пока не говорили: "Мы лишь испытание, не будь же неверующим (изучая у нас это колдовство)". И от этих (ангелов) люди научались тому, чем разлучают мужа с женой, но они не могли навредить никому иначе, как с позволения Аллаха. Они изучали то, что вредит им и не приносит пользы. И воистину, они знали, что покупающие его (колдовство) не будут иметь доли в Последней жизни. И как же дурно то, за что они продали свои души, если бы они только знали}.

Verily, Sulaiman ruled over us only with this and they diffused sorcery among the people. When Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) mentioned Sulaiman Ibn Dawud as one of the former Messengers sent by Allah the Almighty, the Jews in Madinah said: Amazingly Muhammad claims that Sulaiman Ibn Dawud was a Prophet, by Allah, he was nothing but a sorcerer. Thereupon, Allah the Almighty revealed His Saying: {They followed what the Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulaiman (Solomon). Sulaiman did not disbelieve, but the Shayatin (devils) disbelieved, teaching men magic and such things that came down at Babylon to the two angels, Harut and Marut but neither of these two (angels) taught anyone (such things) till they had said, "We are only for trial, so disbelieve not (by learning this magic from us)." And from these (angels) people learn that by which they cause separation between man and his wife, but they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's Leave. And they learn that which harms them and profits them not. And indeed they knew that the buyers of it (magic) would have no share in the Hereafter. And how bad indeed was that for which they sold their own selves, if they but knew).

Передал Ибн Джарир: мне рассказал Аль-Касим, со слов Хусейна ибн Аль-Хаджжаджа, со слов Абу Бакра, со слов Шахра ибн Хаушаба, что он говорил: Дьяволы записывали колдовство, когда Сулейман отсутствовал. «Они писали: кто хочет сделать то-то и то-то, пусть встанет лицом к солнцу и скажет то-то и то-то. А кто хочет сделать то-то и то-то, пусть встанет, повернувшись спиной к солнцу, и скажет то-то и то-то». Они записали это в книге, озаглавленной: «Это то, что написал Асаф ибн Баркхия по приказу царя Сулеймана ибн Дауда: из сокровищ знания». Затем они закопали её под троном Сулеймана. Когда Сулейман умер, сатана выступил в роли проповедника и сказал: «О люди! Сулейман не был пророком; он был лишь колдуном! Идите и ищите его колдовство в его жилищах и вещах». Narrated Ibn Jarir: I was told by Al-Qasim after Hussein Ibn Al-Hajjaj after Abu Bakr after Shahr Ibn Hawshab2 as saying: The devils used to write sorcery down when Sulaiman was absent. "They wrote: whosoever wants to do such and such, he should stand facing the sun and say such and such. And, whosoever wants to do such and such, he should stand giving his back to the sun and say such and such." They wrote this in a book titled: "This is what has been written by Asif Ibn Barkhiya by the order of King Sulaiman Ibn Dawud: from the treasures of knowledge." Then, they buried it under Sulaiman's throne. When Sulaiman died, Satan established himself as an orator and said: "O people! Sulaiman was not a prophet; he was only a sorcerer! Go and seek his sorcery in his dwellings and luggage." And he led them to the buried "treasure". The people said: "By Allah! Sulaiman was a sorcerer who subjected us through his magic." The believers from among them said: "Nay, he was a faithful Prophet." When Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) was sent and he mentioned Dawud and Sulaiman, the Jews said: "Muhammad confounds the truth with falsehood:

Но эти двое не обучали никого, пока не говорили: "Мы — лишь испытание, так что не будь неверующим" (изучая это колдовство у нас).}

he puts Sulaiman with the Prophets while he was just a sorcerer who was carried by the wind. Thereupon, Allah the Almighty revealed: {They followed what the Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulaiman (Solomon). Sulaiman did not disbelieve, but the Shayatin (devils) disbelieved, teaching men magic and such things that came down at Babylon to the two angels, Harut and Marutbut neither of these two (angels) taught anyone (such things) till they had said, "We are only for trial, so disbelieve not (by learning this magic from us).

И от этих (ангелов) люди научались тому, посредством чего разъединяют мужа и жену, но они не могли навредить этим никому, кроме как с позволения Аллаха. И они изучали то, что вредит им и не приносит им пользы. Они знали, что покупатель этого (колдовства) не будет иметь доли в Последней жизни. И как же плохо то, за что они продали свои души, если бы только они знали}.

"And from these (angels) people learn that by which they cause separation between man and his wife, but they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's Leave. And they learn that which harms them and profits them not. And indeed they knew that the buyers of it (magic) would have no share in the Hereafter. And how bad indeed was that for which they sold their own selves, if they but knew}.

Передаёт Ибн Джарир: Мне рассказал Мухаммад ибн Абдуль-А'ля ас-Санани, что ему рассказал Аль-Му'тамир ибн Сулейман, который сказал: я слышал, как Имран ибн Джарир передавал со слов Абу Маджлиза, что он говорил: Сулейман (мир ему) взял с каждого живого существа обет. Поэтому, когда кто-либо подвергался какому-нибудь несчастью, он (Сулейман) обращался к Аллаху с этим обетом, и человек выздоравливал.

Narrated Ibn Jarir: I was told by Muhammad Ibn`Abdel A`la As-San`ani that he was told by Al-Mu`tamir Ibn Sulaiman who said: I heard ` Imran Ibn Jarir who narrated from Abu Majliz as saying: Sulaiman (Peace be upon him) took from every living creature a covenant. So when any person gets afflicted with anything, he (Sulaiman) asks Allah with that covenant and the person recovers.

Но никто из них не обучал (этому) прежде, чем сказать: "Мы лишь испытание, так что не будь неверующим (изучая это колдовство)". И от них люди научились тому, чем разрушают отношения между мужем и женой, но они не могли навредить никому без позволения Аллаха. Они изучают то, что вредит им и не приносит пользы. И ведь они знали, что тот, кто приобретает это (колдовство)}

Unfortunately, the people added to this sorcery and magic and said: this is what Sulaiman Ibn Dawud used to act upon. Thereupon, Allah the Almighty revealed His Saying: {They followed what the Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulaiman (Solomon). Sulaiman did lot disbelieve, but the Shayatin (devils) disbelieved, teaching men magic and such things that came town at Babylon to the two angels, Harut and Marut but neither of these two (angels) taught anyone (such things) till they had said, "We are only for trial, so disbelieve not (by learning this magic from us)." And from these (angels) people earn that by which they cause separation between man and his wife, but they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's Leave. And they learn that which harms them and profits them not. And indeed they knew that the buyers of it (magic)

и не будет им доли в Последней жизни. И как же скверно то, за что они продали самих себя, если бы только знали}.

would have no share in the Hereafter. And how bad indeed was that for which they sold their own selves, if they but knew}.

Передал Ибн Абу Хатим: мне рассказал `Исам ибн Раввад, со слов Адама, со слов Аль-Мас`уди, со слов Зияда, вольноотпущенника Ибн Мус`аба, со слов Аль-Хасана, относительно слов Аллаха: {Они последовали за тем, что шайтаны (дьяволы) рассказывали (ложно о колдовстве) при жизни Сулеймана (Соломона)}, сказав:

Narrated Ibn Abu Hatim: I was told by `Isam Ibn Rawwad after Adam after Al-Mas`udi after Ziyad the freed slave of Ibn Mus` ab after Al-Hasan pertaining to Allah's Statement: {They followed what the Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulaiman (Solomon)}, as saying:

одна треть поэзии, одна треть колдовства (магии) и одна треть гадания.

one-third of poetry, one-third of sorcery (magic), and one-third of soothsaying.

Он сказал: Мне передал Аль-Хасан ибн Ахмад, со слов Ибрахима ибн Абдуллаха ибн Бшшара аль-Васити, со слов Сурура ибн аль-Мугиры, со слов Аббада ибн Мансура, со слов аль-Хасана относительно слов Аллаха: {Они последовали тому, что шайтаны выдавали (ложно о колдовстве) во времена Сулеймана (Соломона)}, что он говорил: это были иудеи, которые последовали тому, что они выдавали во времена Сулеймана (мир ему). До этого люди знали колдовство, но последовали ему только во времена Сулеймана.

And, he said: I was told by AI-Hasan Ibn Ahmed after Ibrahim Ibn `Abdullah Ibn Bshshar Al-Wasiti after Surur Ibn Al-Mughirah after `Abbad Ibn Mansur after Al- Hasan pertaining to Allah's Statement: {They followed what the Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulaiman (Solomon)}, as saying: they were the Jews who followed what they gave out in the lifetime of Sulaiman (Peace be upon him). Prior to that the people knew sorcery, but it was only followed in the lifetime of Sulaiman.

That was a summary of the sayings and narrations of the godly earlier scholars concerning this and it is obvious that there is no clear contradiction between any of them, may Allah guide us all to the Right and Straight Path of His! Allah's Statement: {They followed what the Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic) in the lifetime of Sulaiman (Solomon)}, i.e.

Иудеи, которым был ниспослан ранее Божественный Писание, отвернулись от него и отвергли Пророка Мухаммада ﷺ и последовали за тем, {что сочиняли шайтаны (дьяволы)},что сочиняли шайтаны (дьяволы), то есть то, что передавали и рассказывали дьяволы {при жизни Сулеймана (Соломона)}.

the Jews who were given an earlier Divine Scripture -gave their backs to it and rejected Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and followed {what the Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic)},what the Shayatin (devils) gave out (falsely of the magic), i.e. what was narrated and related by the devils {in the lifetime of Sulaiman (Solomon)}.

Известно, что магия существовала до времени Сулеймана ибн Дауда (мир им обоим), поскольку колдуны были обнаружены при жизни Мусы (Моисея) (мир ему), а Сулейман пришёл после Мусы (мир им обоим). Аллах Всевышний говорит: {Разве ты не подумал о группе сынов Исраила после (времени) Мусы (Моисея)? Когда они сказали одному из своих пророков: «Назначь нам царя, и мы будем сражаться на пути Аллаха». Он сказал: «А не откажетесь ли вы от сражения, если оно будет предписано вам?» Они сказали: «Почему бы нам не сражаться на пути Аллаха, когда нас изгнали из наших домов и наших детей (семьи взяты в плен)?» Но когда им было предписано сражение, они отвернулись, все, кроме немногих из них. It is true that magic existed before the time of Sulaiman Ibn Dawud (Peace be upon them) because magicians were found in the lifetime of Musa (Moses) (Peace be upon him) and that Sulaiman came after Musa (Peace be upon them both). Allah the Almighty says: {Have you not thought about the group of the Children of Israel after (the time of) Musa (Moses)? When they said to a Prophet of theirs, "Appoint for us a king and we will fight in Allah's Way." He said, "Would you then refrain from fighting, if fighting was prescribed for you?" They said, "Why should we not fight in Allah's Way while we have been driven out of our homes and our children (families have been taken as captives)?" But when fighting was ordered for them, they turned away, all except a few of them. And Allah is All-Aware of the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers)}. (Al- Baqarah, 246) then, Allah mentioned the story in which, {and Dawud (David)

…убил Джалута (Голиафа), и Аллах даровал ему [Дауду (Давиду)] царство [после смерти Талута (Саула) и Самуила] и аль-Хикмах (пророчество), и научил его тому, чему пожелал}. (аль-Бакара, 251) и народ Салиха, который существовал до Ибрахима (мир ему).

killed Jalut (Goliath), and Allah gave him [Dawud (David)] the kingdom [after the death of Talut (Saul) and Samuel] and Al-Hikmah (Prophethood), and taught him of that which He willed}. (Al-Baqarah, 251) and, the people of Salih who existed before Ibrahim (Peace be upon him)

Они сказали своему пророку Салиху: {Ты лишь один из околдованных!} (аш-Шу‘ара, 153)

said to their Prophet Salih: {You are only of those bewitched!}. (Ash-Shu' ara', 153)

Аллах Всевышний говорит: {и тому, что было ниспослано в Вавилоне двум ангелам, Харуту и Маруту, но ни один из этих двух (ангелов)

Allah the Almighty says: {and such things that came down at Babylon to the two angels, Harut and Marut but neither of these two (angels)

…никого не учили, пока не скажут: «Мы лишь испытание, поэтому не будь неверующим (изучая это колдовство у нас)». И от них люди учатся тому, чем разрушают связь между мужем и женой, то есть иудей ложно утверждал, что Аллах Всевышний ниспослал колдовство на языки Джибриля и Микаила Сулейману ибн Дауду, но Аллах опроверг их и показал их ложь. Более того, Аллах сообщил Своему Посланнику Мухаммаду ﷺ, что ни Джабраил, ни Микаил не нисходили с колдовством, и Он объявил невиновность Сулеймана (мир ему) от волшебства и чёрной магии. Аллах сообщил всем людям, что колдовство — не что иное, как деяние шайтанов, которые обучали ему людей в Вавилоне. И что двух мужчин, которые обучали там людей этому, звали Харут и Марут.

taught anyone (such things) till they had said, "We are only for trial, so disbelieve not (by learning this magic from us)." And from these (angels) people learn that by which they cause separation between man and his wife), i.e. the Jew falsely claimed that Allah Almighty revealed magic on the tongues of Gabriel and Michael to Sulaiman Ibn Dawud, but Allah belied them and showed their falsehood. Moreover, Allah informed His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him) that neither Gabriel, nor Michael has descended with magic and He declared the innocence of Sulaiman (Peace be upon him) from sorcery and black magic. Allah told the whole people that magic is nothing but the work of devils who teach it to the people in Babylon. And, that the two men who used to teach it to the people there were called Harut and Marut.

Передаёт Имам Ахмад (да смилуется над ним Аллах) в своей «Муснад»: мне рассказал Яхья ибн Бакир, со слов Зухайра ибн Мухаммада, со слов Мусы ибн Угбы, со слов Нафи, со слов Абдуллаха ибн Умара (да будет доволен ими Аллах), что он слышал, как Посланник Аллаха ﷺ сказал: «Когда Адам ﷺ был спущен на землю, ангелы сказали: «О Господь! {Ты поставишь на ней тех, кто будет творить на ней нечестие и проливать кровь, тогда как мы прославляем Тебя хвалой и возвеличиваем Тебя}» (аль-Бакара, 30). Они продолжили: «Господь наш! Мы повинуемся Тебе больше, чем человек». Аллах Всемогущий сказал им: «Назначьте двух ангелов из числа вас, чтобы они спустились на землю». Ангелы сказали: «Господь наш! (Мы выбираем) Харута и Марута». Они спустились на землю, где цветок явился им в образе самой прекрасной женщины на земле».

Narrated Imam Ahmed (May Allah rest his soul) in his Musnad: I was told by Yahya Ibn Bakir after Zuhair Ibn Muhammad after Musa Ibn Iubair after Nafi after `Abdullah Ibn `Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) that he heard Allah's Messenger (Peace be upon him) as saying: "When Adam (Peace be upon him) was put down on earth, the angels said: 0 Lord! {Will You place therein those who will make mischief therein and shed blood, -while we glorify You with praises and thanks and sanctify You}. (Al-Baqarah, 30) They continued: Our Lord! We obey You more than man does. Allah the Almighty said to them: Appoint two angels from amongst you to descend to earth. The angels said: Our Lord! (We chose) Harut and Marut. They went down to earth where the flower appeared to them in the form of the most beautiful woman on earth.

Они попросили её вступить с ними в половую связь. Но она сказала: только после того, как вы отречётесь от Аллаха. Они отказались, и она на время ушла. Затем она вернулась, держа на руках ребёнка, и они попросили её во второй раз.

They asked her to have sexual intercourse with them. But, she said: only after you disbelieve in Allah. They refused and she went away for a while. Then, she came back holding a child in her arms and they asked her for the second time.

Она сказала: сначала вы должны убить этого мальчика. Они отказались, и она ненадолго ушла, а затем вернулась, держа в руке стакан вина. Её попросили в третий раз. Она сказала: сначала вы должны выпить этот стакан вина. Они выпили вино, совершили с ней прелюбодеяние и, наконец, убили мальчика. Когда их совесть пробудилась, женщина сказала: Клянусь Аллахом! После того как вы выпили вино, вы совершили всё то, от чего сначала отказывались. Тогда им дали выбор: понести наказание в этом мире или наказание в Последней жизни.

She said: first, you must kill this boy. They refused to and she went away for a while and then, came back holding a glass of wine. They asked her for the third time. She said: First, you must drink this glass of wine. They drank the wine, committed adultery with her and finally killed the boy. When they restored their conscience, the woman said: By Allah! After you had drunk the wine, you committed all that which you refused to do at first. Thereupon, they were given the choice between receiving the torment of this like or that of the Hereafter.
