আল্লাহ তা'আলা বলেন:

Allah the Almighty says:

{এবং তাদের কাছে একটি দৃষ্টান্ত উপস্থাপন করো: সেই জনপদবাসীদের কাহিনি, যখন তাদের কাছে রাসূলগণ এসেছিলেন। যখন আমি তাদের কাছে দু'জন রাসূল পাঠালাম, তারা উভয়কেই মিথ্যাবাদী বলল; তখন আমি তৃতীয় একজন দিয়ে তাদের শক্তিশালী করলাম, আর তারা বলল: "নিশ্চয়ই আমরা তোমাদের কাছে রাসূল হিসেবে প্রেরিত হয়েছি।" তারা (জনপদের লোকেরা) বলল: "তোমরা তো আমাদের মতোই মানুষ, আর দয়াময় (আল্লাহ) কিছুই অবতীর্ণ করেননি। তোমরা কেবল মিথ্যা বলছ।" রাসূলগণ বললেন: "আমাদের রব জানেন যে, আমরা তোমাদের কাছে রাসূল হিসেবে প্রেরিত হয়েছি। আর আমাদের দায়িত্ব কেবল স্পষ্টভাবে (বার্তা) পৌঁছে দেওয়া।" তারা (লোকেরা) বলল: "আমরা তোমাদের মধ্যে অশুভ লক্ষণ দেখি। যদি তোমরা বিরত না হও, তবে আমরা অবশ্যই তোমাদের পাথর মারব, আর আমাদের পক্ষ থেকে তোমাদের উপর এক যন্ত্রণাদায়ক শাস্তি আপতিত হবে।" তারা (রাসূলগণ) বললেন:}

{And put forward to them a similitude: the (story of the) dwellers of the town, when there came Messengers to them. When We sent to them two Messengers, they belied them both; so We reinforced them with a third, and they said: "Verily we have been sent to you as Messengers." They (people of the town) said: "You are only human beings like ourselves and the Most Gracious (Allah) has revealed nothing. You are only telling lies." The Messengers said: "Our Lord knows that we have been sent as Messengers to you." And our duty is only to convey plainly (the Message)." They (people) said: "For us, we see an evil omen from you: if you cease not, we will surely stone you, and a painful torment will touch you from us."They (Messengers) said:
