Al final de las etapas escolares y tras completar con éxito 36 trimestres, el estudiante se presenta al examen general, es decir, el "Examen General de las Etapas Escolares". El estudiante también puede completar con éxito la etapa sin presentarse al examen general; existen institutos industriales y de formación profesional que, en principio, no exigen que el estudiante apruebe el examen general de las etapas escolares.

At the end of the school stages and after the student successfully completes 36 terms, he sits the general exam i.e. “General Examination for the School Stages.” The student can also successfully complete the stage without taking the general exam; there are industrial and vocational institutes that do not in principle require the student’s attaining the general examination for the school stages.

- El “Examen General” se celebra dos veces al año. La primera vez en el mes de Jumada Al-Awwal de cada año, y la segunda vez en el mes de Shawwal. Los expertos fijarán la fecha de realización y el calendario del examen cada año. El estudiante elige si desea presentarse al examen en el mes de Jumada Al-Awwal o en el de Shawwal mediante su preinscripción para el examen.

- The “General Examination” is held twice every year. The first time in the month of Jumada Al-Awwal every year, and the second time in the month of Shawwal. Experts will assign the date for sitting and timetable of the exam every year. The student chooses whether to sit the exam in the month of Jumada Al-Awwal or Shawwal via his pre-registering for the exam.

Se realizan exámenes separados para cada una de las opciones del tercer ciclo escolar. Hay un examen para las opciones cultural, científica, industrial y otras. Cada opción tiene un calendario específico.

- Separate exams are held for each of the third school stage options. There is an exam for the cultural, scientific, industrial and other options. Each option has a specific timetable.

El examen abarca lo que el estudiante estudió en las tres etapas escolares, pero con énfasis en las materias que el estudiante cursó en los últimos 6 cursos (del 31 al 36).

- The exam covers what the student studied in all the three school stages, but with focus upon the subjects the student studied in the last 6 courses (31 to 36).
