Ja‘far ibn ‘Amr al-Dumarī dit :

Ja‘far ibn ‘Amr al-Dumarī says:

‘Ubaid Allah ibn ‘Adī ibn Khiyór et moi sommes allés à Homs [en Syrie]. À cette époque, Waḥshī était également installé à Ḥimṣ ; nous sommes donc allés le rencontrer. Dès qu'il vit ‘Ubaid Allāh, il demanda : « Es-tu le fils de ‘Adī ibn Khiyór ? »

‘Ubaid Allah ibn ‘Adī ibn Khiyór and I went to Hims [Syria]. At that time, Waúshī was also settled in ûimü; therefore we went to go and meet him. As soon as he saw ‘Ubaid Allóh, he asked, “Are you the son of ‘Adī ibn Khiyór?”.

« Oubaid Allah répondit : « Oui, je suis son fils. Mais comment me connais-tu ? Je ne t'ai jamais rencontré auparavant. »

‘Ubaid Allóh replied, “Yes, I am his son. But how do you know me, I have never met you before.”.

Waḥshī répondit : « C'est vrai, nous ne nous sommes jamais rencontrés auparavant, mais lorsque tu es né, je t'ai pris dans mes bras et je t'ai remis à la sage-femme. Quand je t'ai pris, tout était couvert sauf tes pieds. Aujourd'hui, lorsque tu es venu, j'ai vu tes pieds et je t'ai reconnu. »

Waúshī replied, “It is true we have never met before, but when you were born I picked you up and gave you to the mid-wife. When I picked you up, everything was covered except your feet. Today, when you came I saw your feet and recognized you.”.

Wahshī a vu ʿUbaid Allah ibn ʿAdi ibn Khiyār après combien d'années ? Le Hafiz Ibn Hajar écrit dans Fath al-Bari : « Après la naissance, il le vit pour la deuxième fois après cinquante ans ».14 Et ce qui est étonnant, c'est que Wahshī l'a reconnu immédiatement.15

Waúshī saw ‘Ubaid Allah ibn ‘Adi ibn Khiyór after how many years? Hafiz ibn Hajar writes in Fatú al-Barī, “After birth, he saw him for the second time after fifty years”.14 And the amazing part is that Wahshī recognized him immediately.15

Les livres d'histoire et les ouvrages consacrés aux biographies des rapporteurs regorgent de tels récits. Premièrement, Allah (SWT) les a comblés de mémoires extraordinaires ; deuxièmement, ils étaient si passionnés par les hadiths qu'ils ont accompli chaque démarche et déployé tous les efforts à leur portée pour en acquérir la connaissance. Leurs labeurs et leurs épreuves en la matière ne nous sont pas difficiles à concevoir et à comprendre à notre époque.

The books of history and the books on the biographies of the narrators are full of such incidents. Firstly Allah (SWTH) blessed them with extraordinary memories, and, secondly, they were so passionate about ahadith that they took every step and made every effort within their means to gain knowledge of it. Their endeavors and hardships in this regard are not difficult for us to realize and understand in our times.
