Esto incluye el tema de cómo y de dónde deriva Occidente su pensamiento, es decir, incluye el tema del método seguido para llegar a cualquier conocimiento. También incluye la fuente y la dependencia del pensamiento. Como se aclaró anteriormente, Occidente se presenta como pionero de los métodos racionales y científicos. Así, su método de pensamiento se basa en estos dos elementos: el racionalismo y la ciencia.
