नमाज़ में तेरह अनिवार्य कार्य हैं। वे इस प्रकार हैं:

There are thirteen compulsory acts in Salaah. They are as follows:

1. सलाह की शुरुआत में "अल्लाहु अकबर" कहते समय सलाह की नीयत करना

1. To make the intention of Salaah when saying Allahu Akbar at the beginning of Salaah

2. फ़र्ज़ नमाज़ में सक्षम होने की स्थिति में सीधा खड़ा होना

2. To stand upright in Fardh Salaah, if capable

3. सलाह की शुरुआत में अल्लाहु अकबर कहना

3. To say Allahu Akbar at the beginning of Salaah

4. सूरah अल-फ़ातिहah पढ़ना

4. To recite Al-Faatihah

5. रुकू (रुकूअ) शांति और धीरे-धीरे से करना

5. To make Ruku’ calmly and unhurriedly

6. रुकू के बाद सीधे खड़े होना

6. To stand up erect after Ruku’

7. दो सजदे करना

7. To make two Sajdaah

8. दो सजदों के बीच बैठना

8. To sit between two Sajdaah

9. नमाज़ के अंत में बैठना

9. To sit at the end of Salaah

10. आख़िरी बैठक में तशह्हुद पढ़ना

10. To read Tashahhud in the final sitting

11. आखिरी बैठक में दुरूद पढ़ना

11. To read Durood in the final sitting

12. नमाज़ के हर भाग को सही क्रम में अदा करना

12. To perform every part of Salaah in proper order

13. सलाह (नमाज़) को पहले सलाम देकर समाप्त करना

13. To end Salaah by making first Salaam

1. नमाज़ (सलात) को निर्धारित करते समय नीयत करना, और यदि वह फ़र्ज़ है तो फ़र्ज़ की नीयत भी करना।

1. To define Salaah while intending and make the intention of Fardh as well, if it is a Fardh.

2. सलाह (नमाज़) की नीयत में उसे परिभाषित करना, और छूट जाने पर उसकी क़ज़ा करना, यदि वह उन नफ़्लों में से हो जो किसी निश्चित समय पर या किसी विशेष कारण से पढ़े जाते हैं।

2. To define Salaah while intending and make Qazaa of it when missed, if it is amongst such Nawaafil which is performed at an appointed time or for a particular reason (2)

3. सिर्फ़ नीयत करना, अगर नमाज़ नफ़ल (सामान्य नफ़ल) हो

3. To make only intention of Salaah, if it is a general Nafl

सही क्रम बनाए रखने के लिए

1. To maintain correct sequence

2. एक आयत के बाद दूसरी आयत बिना किसी देरी के पढ़ना

2. To recite one Aayah after another without any delay

3. हर उस अक्षर का सही उच्चारण करना जिस पर तश्दीद हो

3. To pronounce correctly every letter which has a Tashdeed upon it

4. ऐसी गलती न करना जो अर्थ को बदल दे

4. To not make such mistake which changes the meaning

5. इस प्रकार पढ़ना कि व्यक्ति अपनी ही तिलावत (पाठ) को सुन सके

5. To recite in a manner that one can hear one’s recitation

6. कुरआन के शब्दों के अलावा कोई भी शब्द न जोड़ना

6. To not add any word which is beside the words of the Glorious Qur’aan

1. दोनों हाथों को घुटनों पर रखकर झुकना

1. To bow down by placing both the hands on the knees

2. पीठ और सिर को सीधा और एक ही स्तर पर रखते हुए झुकना

2. To bow down by keeping back and head straight and at the same level

1. सात अंगों की सहायता से सजदा करना (3)

1. To make Sajdah with the help of seven parts of the body (3)

2. माथे को खुला रखना

2. To keep the forehead disclosed

3. ऐसी किसी चीज़ पर सजदा न करना जो सजदे के दौरान हिलती हो

3. To not make Sajdah on such a thing that moves while prostrating
