गुस्ल वाजिब होने के छह कारण हैं। वे इस प्रकार हैं:

There are six factors that make Ghusl obligatory. The factors are as follows:

1. पुरुष के गुप्तांग के सुपारे (2) को स्त्री के गुप्तांग में प्रवेश कराना

1. To get glans (2) of male’s private part into female’s private one

2. वीर्य का स्खलन करना

2. To discharge semen

3. किसी मुसलमान की ऐसी मृत्यु होना जो शहादत के रूप में न हो

3. To occur death to a Muslim who has not been martyred

4. मासिक धर्म (हैज़) के दौरान का अनुभव करना

4. To experience the menstrual course

5. प्रसव के बाद रक्तस्राव होना

5. To flow blood after childbirth

6. बच्चे को जन्म देना

6. To give birth to a child

नीचे उल्लिखित दो कार्य ग़ुस्ल में अनिवार्य (फ़र्ज़) हैं:

The below mentioned two acts are compulsory in Ghusl:

1. शरीर के पहले अंग को धोते समय नीयत करना

1. To make intention when washing the first part of the body

2. पानी का पूरे शरीर और बालों की जड़ों तक पहुँचना

2. To let water reach the entire body and the roots of hair

ग़ुस्ल में कई सुन्नत कार्य हैं। उनमें से कुछ इस प्रकार हैं:

There are many Sunnah acts in Ghusl. Some of them are as follows:

1. इस्तिंजा करना

1. To make Istinjaa

2. गुस्ल (स्नान) से पहले वुज़ू करना

2. To perform Wudhoo before taking a bath

3. शरीर को मलना

3. To rub the body

4. शरीर के दाएँ हिस्से और दाएँ तरफ़ से शुरू करना

4. To begin with the right and side of the body

5. तीन बार पानी डालना

5. To pour water three times

6. पिछले अंग के सूखने से पहले अगले अंग को धोना

6. To wash the next part of the body before the former gets dry

वुज़ू की वैधता के लिए जो शर्तें हैं, वही शर्तें ग़ुस्ल की वैधता के लिए भी हैं।

The factors that are conditional for the validity of Wudhoo are conditional for the validity of Ghusl as well.

वुज़ू में जो कार्य मकरूह हैं, वे ग़ुस्ल में भी मकरूह हैं।

The acts which are Makrooh in Wudhoo are also Makrooh in Ghusl.
