1.2 कुरआन, हदीस और हदीस कुदसी
1.2 The Qur'an, Hadith And Hadith Qudsi
कुरआन
The Qur'an
कुरआन को इस प्रकार परिभाषित किया जा सकता है:
The Qur'an can be defined as follows:
अल्लाह का वह कलाम, जो अंतिम नबी मुहम्मद ﷺ पर फ़रिश्ते जिब्रील के द्वारा उतारा गया, अपने सटीक अर्थ और सटीक शब्दों के साथ, जो हम तक बहुत-से लोगों के द्वारा (तवातुर से) पहुँचा है, ज़बानी भी और लिखित रूप में भी।
The speech of Allah, sent down upon the last Prophet Muhammad, through the Angel Gabriel, in its precise meaning and precise wording, transmitted to us by numerous persons (tawatur), both verbally and in writing.
क़ुरआन शब्द
The Word Qur'an
The Arabic word 'qur'an' is derived from the root qara'a, which has various meanings, such as to read, [Sura 17: 93.] to recite, [Sura 75:18:17: 46.] etc. Qur'an is a verbal noun and hence means the 'reading' or 'recitation'. As used in the Qur'an itself, the word refers to the revelation from Allah in the broad sense [Sura 17: 82.] and is not always restricted to the written form in the shape of a book, as we have it before us today.
लेकिन इसका अर्थ केवल मुहम्मद ﷺ पर की गई वह्य है, जबकि अन्य नबियों पर उतरी वह्य को अलग-अलग नामों से पुकारा गया है (जैसे तौरात, इंजील, किताब, आदि)।
However, it means revelation to Muhammad only, while revelation to other prophets has been referred to by different names (e.g. taurat, Injil, kitab, etc.).
कुरआन के अन्य नाम
Other Names Of The Qur'an
अल्लाह की ओर से नबी मुहम्मद ﷺ पर उतरी वह्य को क़ुरआन स्वयं ही क़ुरआन (पाठ) के नाम से पुकारता है, और इसके अलावा अन्य नामों से भी, जैसे कि:
The revelation from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad is referred to in the Qur'an itself by the name qur'an (recitation) as well as by other names, such as e.g.
फुरक़ान (कसौटी, देखें 25:1)।
Furqaan (criterion, see 25: 1).
तंज़ील (उतारा गया, देखें 26:192)।
Tanzil (sent down, see 26: 192).
ज़िक्र (स्मरण, देखें 15: 9)।
Dhikr (reminder, see 15: 9).
किताब (धर्मग्रंथ, देखें 21:10).
Kitab (scripture, see 21:10).
कुरआन के अन्य संदर्भ नूर (प्रकाश), हुदा (मार्गदर्शन), रहमा (दया), मजीद (महान), मुबारक (बरकत वाला), बशीर (शुभ समाचार देने वाला), नज़ीर (डराने वाला) आदि शब्दों से दिए जाते हैं।
Other references to the Qur'an are by such words as Nur (light), Huda (guidance), Rahma (mercy), Majid (glorious), Mubarak (blessed), Bashir (announcer), Nadhir (warner), etc.
इन सभी नामों में से हर एक अल्लाह की प्रकट की गई वाणी (कलामुल्लाह) के किसी एक पहलू को दर्शाता है।
All these names reflect one of the various aspects of the revealed word of Allah.
हदीस का अर्थ
The Meaning Of Hadith
[हदीस के विवरण के लिए देखें: आज़मी, मुहम्मद मुस्तफ़ा: Studies in Hadith Methodology and Literature, इंडियानापोलिस, 1977.] शब्द "हदीस" का अर्थ है समाचार, सूचना या वृत्तांत। कुरआन में यह शब्द इसी सामान्य अर्थ में प्रयुक्त हुआ है। [उदाहरणार्थ
[For details on hadith see: A'zami, Muhammad Mustafa: Studies in Hadith Methodology and Literature, Indianapolis, 1977.] The word hadith means news, report or narration. It is in this general sense that the word is used in the Qur'an. [e.g.
सूरा 12:101.] तकनीकी रूप से, "हदीस" शब्द (बहुवचन "अहादीस") विशेष रूप से पैगंबर मुहम्मद ﷺ की सुन्नत से संबंधित रिवायतों (मौखिक और लिखित) को कहते हैं। पैगंबर मुहम्मद ﷺ के बारे में हदीस की रिवायतें निम्नलिखित प्रकार की होती हैं:
Sura 12:101.] Technically, the word hadith, (pl. ahadith) means in particular the reports (verbal and written) about the sunna of the Prophet Muhammad. Hadith reports about the Prophet Muhammad are of the following kinds:
उसका कथन (क़ौल)।
What he said (qaul).
जो उसने किया (फ़िअ'ल)।
What he did (fi'l).
वह बात जिसे उन्होंने (मौन रहकर) दूसरों के कार्यों में स्वीकृति दी (तक़रीर)।
What he (silently) approved (taqrir) in others' actions.
इसके अलावा, उनके बारे में भी रिवायतें मिलती हैं, यानी वे कैसे थे (सिफ़ा)।
There are also reports about him, i.e. about what he was like (sifa).
कुरआन और हदीस में अंतर।
The Difference Between The Qur'an And Hadith.
Shafi'i's Risala, Baltimore, 1961,
There is agreement among most Muslim scholars that the contents of the sunna are also from Allah. Hence they have described it as also being the result of some form of inspiration. [For details see kitab al-risala, by Imam al-Shafi'i, Cairo, n.d., especially pp. 28-9. In English: Khadduri Majid, Islamic Jurisprudence. Shafi'i's Risala, Baltimore, 1961, chapter 5, especially pp. 121-2.] The contents of the sunna are however expressed through the Prophet's own words or actions, while in the case of the Qur'an the Angel Gabriel brought the exact wording and contents to the Prophet, who received this as revelation and then announced it, in the very same manner that he received it.
इन दोनों रूपों के बीच अंतर को सुयूती ने (जुवैनी का अनुसरण करते हुए) इस प्रकार स्पष्ट किया है:
The difference between these two forms has been illustrated by Suyuti (following Juwaini) in the following manner:
'The revealed speech of Allah is of two kinds: As to the first kind, Allah says to Gabriel: Tell the Prophet to whom I sent you that Allah tells him to do this and this, and He ordered him something. So Gabriel understood what His Lord had told him. Then he descended with this to the Prophet and told him what His Lord had told him, but the expression is not this (same) expression, just as a king says to someone upon whom he relies: Tell so-and-so: The king says to you: strive in his service and gather your army for fighting ... and when the messenger (goes and) says: The king tells you: do not fail in my service, and do not let the army break up, and call for fighting, etc., then he has not lied nor shortened (the message) ...
हदीस क़ुदसी
Hadith Qudsi
[For an introduction to the subject and select sample texts, see e.g. Ibrahim Izzuddin and Denis Johnson-Davies: Forty Hadith Qudsi, Beirut, Damascus, 1980.] Qudsi means holy, or pure. There are some reports from the Prophet Muhammad where he relates to the people what God has said (says) or did (does), but this information is not part of the Qur'an. Such a report is called hadith qudsi, e.g.:
अबू हुरैरा (रज़ि.) से रिवायत है कि अल्लाह के रसूल ﷺ ने फ़रमाया:
Abu Hurairah reported that Allah's messenger said:
'Allah, Mighty and Exalted is He, said: If My servant likes to meet me, I like to meet him, and if he dislikes to meet Me, I dislike to meet him.' [Forty Hadith Qudsi, Beirut, Damascus, 1980, No. 30.] While the common factor between hadith qudsi and the Qur'an is that both contain words from Allah which have been revealed to Muhammad, the main points of difference between Qur'an and hadith qudsi are as follows:
कुरआन में सटीक शब्द अल्लाह की ओर से हैं, जबकि हदीसे कुदसी में शब्द पैगंबर मुहम्मद ﷺ द्वारा दिए गए हैं।
In the Qur'an the precise wording is from Allah, while in the hadith qudsi the wording is given by the Prophet Muhammad.
कुरआन केवल फ़रिश्ते जिब्रील के द्वारा मुहम्मद ﷺ तक पहुँचाया गया, जबकि हदीस क़ुदसी कुछ अन्य तरीक़ों से भी प्रेरित हो सकती है, जैसे कि स्वप्न में।
The Qur'an has been brought to Muhammad only by the Angel Gabriel, while hadith qudsi may also have been inspired otherwise, such as e.g. in a dream.
कुरआन अद्वितीय और बेजोड़ है, लेकिन हदीस क़ुदसी के साथ ऐसा नहीं है।
The Qur'an is inimitable and unique, but not so the hadith qudsi.
कुरआन की विशिष्ट विशेषताएँ
Distinctive Features Of The Qur'an
The most important distinction between the Qur'an and all other words or writings therefore is that the Qur'an is the speech from Allah, revealed in its precise meaning and wording through the Angel Gabriel, transmitted by many, inimitable, unique and protected by Allah Himself against any corruption.
