L'Appel Muhammadan pourrait être divisé en deux phases distinctement délimitées :
The Muhammadan Call could be divided into two phases distinctively demarcated:
1. La phase mecquoise : près de treize ans.
1. The Makkan phase: nearly thirteen years.
2. La phase médinoise : dix années complètes.
2. The Madinese phase: fully ten years.
Chacune des deux phases comprenait des caractéristiques distinctives facilement discernables par un examen attentif des circonstances qui les ont caractérisées.
Each of the two phases included distinctive features easily discernible through accurate scrutiny into the circumstances that characterized each of them.
La phase mecquoise peut être divisée en trois étapes :
The Makkan phase can be divided into three stages:
1. L'étape de l'Appel secret : trois ans.
1. The stage of the secret Call: three years.
2. L'étape de la proclamation de l'Appel à Makkah : du début de la quatrième année de la Prophétie jusqu'à presque la fin de la dixième année.
2. The stage of the proclamation of the Call in Makkah: from the beginning of the fourth year of Prophethood to almost the end of the tenth year.
3. L'étape de l'appel à l'Islam et de sa propagation au-delà de Makkah : elle a duré de la fin de la dixième année de la Prophétie jusqu'à l'émigration de Muhammad ﷺ vers Madinah.
3. The stage of the call to Islam and propagating it beyond Makkah: it lasted from the end of tenth year of the Prophethood until Muhammad’s (Peace be upon him) emigration to Madinah.
