পাপ মানুষের অন্তরকে প্রভাবিত করে, ফলে তা আল্লাহর মহিমা ঘোষণা করতে ব্যর্থ হয় এবং তার প্রশান্তির অনুভূতি দুর্বল হয়ে পড়ে। যদি কারও অন্তর সচেতনতায় পূর্ণ থাকত, তবে সে কোনো পাপ করতে সাহস করত না। কিছু প্রতারিত মানুষ বলে: "আমাকে মাঝে মাঝে যে পাপে প্রবৃত্ত করে, তা হলো আল্লাহর রহমত থেকে উপকৃত হওয়ার আশা, আমার অন্তরে তাঁর মহিমা ঘোষণার দুর্বলতা নয়।" এটি কেবল আত্মপ্রবঞ্চনা; কারণ অন্তরে আল্লাহর মহিমা ঘোষণা করার অর্থ হলো তাঁর পবিত্রতাকে মহিমান্বিত করা, আর এটি যেকোনো পাপ করার বিরোধী। যারা বেপরোয়াভাবে আল্লাহর অবাধ্যতায় লিপ্ত হয়, তারা তাঁকে তাঁর প্রাপ্য যথার্থ মর্যাদা দেয় না। এটি আল্লাহর পক্ষ থেকে এক শাস্তি, যা তাঁর বান্দাদের অন্তর থেকে ভয়ের অনুভূতি দূর করে দেয়, ফলে পাপীরা মানুষের কাছেও হেয় হয়ে পড়ে, যেমনভাবে সে আল্লাহর আদেশের প্রতি অশ্রদ্ধা দেখিয়েছিল। মানুষ একজন ব্যক্তিকে ততটুকুই ভালোবাসে, যতটুকু সে আল্লাহকে ভালোবাসে; তারা তাকে ততটুকুই ভয় করে, যতটুকু সে আল্লাহকে ভয় করে; তারা তাকে ততটুকুই প্রশংসা করে, যতটুকু সে আল্লাহর প্রশংসা করে। কোনো মানুষ যদি আল্লাহর পবিত্রতা লঙ্ঘন করে, তবে সে কীভাবে আশা করতে পারে যে মানুষ তার পবিত্রতা লঙ্ঘন করবে না? আল্লাহ তাঁর কিতাবে (আল-কুরআনে) পাপের জন্য প্রাপ্য শাস্তির কথা বলেছেন। বড় পাপীদের তিনি তাদের অর্জিত কর্মের কারণে কুফরের অবস্থায় ঠেলে দিয়েছেন। তিনি তাদের অন্তরসমূহ তাদের পাপের কারণে মোহর করে দিয়েছেন, এবং তারা যেমন তাদের রবকে ভুলে গিয়েছিল, তিনিও তাদের ভুলে গেছেন। তারা যেমন আল্লাহর দ্বীনকে অবহেলায় নষ্ট করেছিল, তিনিও তাদের নষ্ট করে দিয়েছেন। আল্লাহ তাঁর কিতাবে, তাঁর সমস্ত সৃষ্টির তাঁর প্রতি সিজদার বর্ণনা দেওয়ার পর, বলেছেন: {যাকে আল্লাহ লাঞ্ছিত করেন, তাকে কেউ সম্মানিত করতে পারে না}। যখন তারা আল্লাহকে সিজদা করার কাজকে ঘৃণা করেছিল এবং তা করতে অস্বীকার করেছিল, তখন তিনি তাদের লাঞ্ছিত করেছিলেন; এবং আল্লাহর কর্তৃক লাঞ্ছিত হওয়ার পর কেউ তাদের সম্মানিত করতে পারেনি।

Sins affect one's heart so it fails to glorify the Lord ~ and weakens its sense of tranquillity. If one's heart was filled with sobriety it would not have dared to commit any sin. Some deceived people say: "What induces me sometimes to commit sins is the hope of benefiting from Allah's Mercy, not the weakness of glorifying Him in my heart." This is simply self-deception; because glorifying Allah ~ in one's heart means glorifying His Sanctity, which would oppose the committing of any sins. Those who boldly indulge in disobeying Allah ~ do not consider Him with the correct estimation due to Him~. This is a punishment from Allah ~ which removes the sense of fear from the hearts of His Servants, so that sinners would despise hitn/her the way he/she disrespected the Commands of Allah ~ - People love another person according to his/her level of love for Allah ~ ; they fear hitn/her according to the level of his/her fear of Allah; they praise him/her according to the level of his/her praise for Allah ~. How could a person violate the sanctity of Allah ~ and not expect people to violate his/her sanctity? Allah ~ has stated in His Book (the Qur'an) the punishment due for sins. He ~ cast the big sinners into a state of disbelief for what they had earned. He ~ sealed their hearts with their sins, and forgot them the way they had forgotten their Lord. He ~ wasted them the way they had wasted His Religion. Allah ~ stated in His Book, after describing the prostration of all His Creatures to Him: (Whomsoever Allah disgraces, none can honour him)1; when they despised the act of prostrating to Allah ~ and refused to perform it, He ~ disgraced them; and no one could honour them after they had been humiliated by Allah ~-
