تنقسم الدعوة المحمدية إلى مرحلتين متميزتين تمام التمييز.

The Muhammadan Call could be divided into two phases distinctively demarcated:

١۔ المرحلة المكية: قرابة ثلاث عشرة سنة۔

1. The Makkan phase: nearly thirteen years.

المرحلة المدنية: عشر سنوات كاملة.

2. The Madinese phase: fully ten years.

كانت لكلّ مرحلةٍ من المرحلتين سماتٌ مميّزةٌ يسهل تمييزها عند التدقيق الدقيق في الظروف التي اتّسمت بها كلٌّ منهما.

Each of the two phases included distinctive features easily discernible through accurate scrutiny into the circumstances that characterized each of them.

تنقسم المرحلة المكية إلى ثلاث مراحل:

The Makkan phase can be divided into three stages:

المرحلة الأولى: الدعوة السرية، وكانت ثلاث سنوات.

1. The stage of the secret Call: three years.

المرحلة الثانية: مرحلة الجهر بالدعوة في مكة، من أول السنة الرابعة من البعثة إلى قرب نهاية السنة العاشرة.

2. The stage of the proclamation of the Call in Makkah: from the beginning of the fourth year of Prophethood to almost the end of the tenth year.

3. مرحلة الدعوة إلى الإسلام ونشره خارج مكة: امتدت من نهاية السنة العاشرة من البعثة حتى هجرة محمد ﷺ إلى المدينة.

3. The stage of the call to Islam and propagating it beyond Makkah: it lasted from the end of tenth year of the Prophethood until Muhammad’s (Peace be upon him) emigration to Madinah.
