O Chamado Muhammadiano poderia ser dividido em duas fases claramente demarcadas:

The Muhammadan Call could be divided into two phases distinctively demarcated:

1. A fase mequense: quase treze anos.

1. The Makkan phase: nearly thirteen years.

2. A fase medinense: exatos dez anos.

2. The Madinese phase: fully ten years.

Cada uma das duas fases apresentava características distintas, facilmente perceptíveis por meio de uma análise cuidadosa das circunstâncias que as caracterizavam.

Each of the two phases included distinctive features easily discernible through accurate scrutiny into the circumstances that characterized each of them.

A fase mequense pode ser dividida em três estágios:

The Makkan phase can be divided into three stages:

1. A fase do Chamado secreto: três anos.

1. The stage of the secret Call: three years.

2. A fase da proclamação do Chamado em Makkah: desde o início do quarto ano da Profecia até quase o fim do décimo ano.

2. The stage of the proclamation of the Call in Makkah: from the beginning of the fourth year of Prophethood to almost the end of the tenth year.

3. A fase do chamado ao Islã e de sua propagação para além de Makkah: durou desde o fim do décimo ano da Profecia até a emigração de Muhammad ﷺ para Madinah.

3. The stage of the call to Islam and propagating it beyond Makkah: it lasted from the end of tenth year of the Prophethood until Muhammad’s (Peace be upon him) emigration to Madinah.
