دو شیخوں نے روایت کیا ہے کہ ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا: نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا، 'جب میں سو رہا تھا تو میں نے خود کو جنت میں دیکھا، اور وہاں ایک محل کے پاس ایک عورت وضو کر رہی تھی۔ میں نے پوچھا، "یہ محل کس کا ہے؟" انہوں نے کہا، "یہ عمر کا ہے۔" پھر مجھے تمہارا حسد یاد آیا اور میں مڑ گیا۔' عمر رو پڑے اور کہا، 'اے اللہ کے رسول ﷺ، کیا میں آپ سے حسد کر سکتا ہوں؟' دو شیخوں نے روایت کیا ہے کہ ابن عمر نے روایت کیا کہ اللہ کے رسول ﷺ نے فرمایا، 'جب میں سو رہا تھا تو میں نے دودھ پیا — یعنی دودھ — یہاں تک کہ میں نے اپنے ناخنوں میں سیرابی کو بہتے ہوئے دیکھا، اور پھر میں نے اسے عمر کو دے دیا۔' انہوں نے پوچھا، 'اے اللہ کے رسول ﷺ، آپ نے اس کی تعبیر کیسے کی؟' آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا، 'علم۔' دو شیخوں نے روایت کیا ہے کہ ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا: میں نے نبی کریم ﷺ کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا، 'جب میں سو رہا تھا تو مجھے لوگ دکھائے گئے اور انہوں نے قمیصیں پہن رکھی تھیں۔ ان میں سے کچھ سینے تک تھیں اور کچھ اس سے بھی نیچے تک تھیں۔ عمر کو بھی دکھایا گیا اور انہوں نے ایک قمیص پہن رکھی تھی جسے وہ گھسیٹ رہے تھے۔' انہوں نے پوچھا، 'اے اللہ کے رسول ﷺ، آپ نے اس کی تعبیر کیسے کی؟' آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا، 'دین!' دو شیخوں نے روایت کیا ہے کہ سعد بن ابی وقاص نے کہا: نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا، 'ابن الخطاب، اس ذات کی قسم جس کے قبضے میں میری جان ہے، شیطان تمہارے ساتھ کسی راستے پر کبھی نہیں ملا مگر یہ کہ وہ تمہارے راستے کے علاوہ کسی دوسرے راستے پر سفر کرتا تھا۔' البخاری نے روایت کیا ہے کہ ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا، 'تم سے پہلے امتوں میں ایسے لوگ تھے جنہیں الہام کیا جاتا تھا، اور اگر میری امت میں کوئی ایسا ہے تو وہ عمر ہے۔' الترمذی نے ابن عمر سے روایت کیا ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا، 'اللہ نے عمر کی زبان اور اس کے دل پر حق کو ڈال دیا ہے۔' ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے فرمایا: لوگوں کے درمیان کبھی ایسا معاملہ پیش نہیں آیا کہ وہ اس کے بارے میں بات کریں اور عمر رضی اللہ عنہ اس کے بارے میں بات کریں، مگر یہ ہوا کہ قرآن نے اس بات کی تصدیق میں نازل ہوا جو عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہی تھی۔

The two Shaykhs narrated that Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased; with him, said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘While I was asleep I saw myself in the Garden, and there was a woman performing wudu beside a palace. I said, “Whose is this palace?” They said, “It belongs to cUmar.” Then I remembered your jealousy and turned away.’ cUmar wept and said, ‘Could I be jealous of you, Messenger of Allah?’ The two Shaykhs narrated that Ibn cUmar narrated that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘While I was asleep I drank — meaning milk — until I saw satiation flowing in my nails, and then I passed it to cUmar.’ They said, ‘How did you interpret it, Messenger of Allah?’ He said, ‘Knowledge.’ j The two Shaykhs narrated that Abu Sacid al-Khudri, may Allah he pleased with him, said: I heard the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saying, ‘While I was sleeping I saw people being shown to me and they had shirts on. Some of them reached to the breast, and some of them reached lower than that. cUmar was shown to me and he had on a shirt which he was dragging along.’ They said, ‘How did you interpret it, Messenger of Allah?’ He said, ‘The deen! The two Shaykhs narrated that Sacd ibn Abi Waqqas said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘Ibn al- Khattab, by Him in Whose hand is my self, the shaytan never met you travelling on a road but that he would travel on a road other than your road.’ Al-Bukhari narrated that Abu Hurayrah said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘There were in the nations before you people who were inspired, and if there is one in my ummah it is cUmar.’ At-Tirmidhi narrated from Ibn cUmar that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘Allah has put the truth upon cUmar’s tongue and (in) his heart.’ Ibn cUmar said: No affair ever happened among people and they spoke about it and cUmar spoke about it but that the Qur’an was revealed confirming what "Umar said.

ترمذیؒ نے روایت کیا ہے، اور اسی طرح الحاکمؒ نے بھی روایت کیا ہے اور اسے صحیح قرار دیا ہے، کہ عقبہ بن عامرؓ نے کہا: نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا، 'اگر میرے بعد کوئی نبی ہوتا تو وہ عمر بن الخطابؓ ہوتے۔' اسے طبرانیؒ نے ابو سعید خدریؓ سے روایت کیا ہے، اور تمیم بن مالکؓ سے، اور ابن عاصکؔ نے اسے ابن عمرؓ سے روایت کیا ہے۔

At-Tirmidhi narrated, as did al-Hakim who declared it sahih, that ‘Uqbah ibn cAmir said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and his family and grant them peace, said, ‘If there were to be a prophet after me it would be cUmar ibn al-Khattab.’ At-Tabarani narrated it from Abu Sacid al-Khudri and Tsmah ibn Malik and Ibn cAsakir narrated it from Ibn cUmar.

At-Tirmidhi narrated that cA’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘I am looking at the shaytans of the jinn and men who have fled from cUmar.’ Ibn Majah and al-Hakim narrated that Ubayy ibn Kacb said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘The first one whom the Truth will shake hands with is cUmar, the first He will greet (with the greeting of peace), and the first He will take by the hand and enter into the Garden.’ Ibn Majah and al-Hakim narrated that Abu Dharr said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘Truly Allah has placed the truth upon the tongue of cUmar, it speaks by him (or he speaks by it).’ Ahmad and al-Bazzar narrated that Abu Hurayrah said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘Truly Allah has placed the truth on the tongue of cUmar and (in) his heart.’ At-Tabarani narrated this hadith from cUmar ibn al-Khattab, Bilal, Mucawiyah ibn Abi Sufyan and cA’ishah, may Allah be pleased with them, and Ibn cAsakir narrated it from a hadith of Ibn cUmar, Ibn Manic narrated in his Musnad that cAli, may Allah be pleased with him, said: We, the Companions of Muhammad, used not to doubt that the sakinah (tranquillity or Divine presence) spoke by the tongue of cUmar.

البزار نے روایت کیا ہے کہ ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا: نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا، 'عمر جنت والوں کے چراغ ہیں۔' یہ حدیث ابو ہریرہ اور صخب بن جثمہ نے روایت کی ہے۔

Al-Bazzar narrated that Ibn cUmar said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘cUmar is the lamp of the people of the Garden.’ This hadith was narrated by Abu Hurayrah and as-Sacb ibn Juththamah.

البزار نے قدامہ بن مدھون سے روایت کیا ہے کہ ان کے پدری چچا عثمان بن مدھون نے کہا: نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا، 'یہ فتنہ پر تالا ہے،' اور آپ ﷺ نے اپنے ہاتھ سے عمر کی طرف اشارہ فرمایا۔ 'جب تک یہ تمہارے درمیان زندہ ہے، تمہارے اور فتنہ کے درمیان ایک مضبوط بند دروازہ رہے گا۔' الطبرانی نے الاوسط میں روایت کیا ہے کہ ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا: جبرائیل علیہ السلام نبی کریم ﷺ کے پاس آئے اور کہا، 'عمر کو سلام کرو اور انہیں خبردار کر دو کہ ان کا غصہ طاقتور ہے اور ان کی رضا فیصلہ ہے۔' ابن عساکر نے روایت کیا ہے کہ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے کہا کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا، 'شیطان عمر سے ڈرتا ہے۔' احمد نے بریدہ کے واسطے سے روایت کیا ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا، 'اے عمر! شیطان تم سے ڈرتا ہے۔' ابن عساکر نے روایت کیا ہے کہ ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا: نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا، 'آسمان میں ایسا کوئی فرشتہ نہیں جو عمر کی عزت نہ کرتا ہو، اور زمین پر ایسا کوئی شیطان نہیں جو عمر سے نہ ڈرتا ہو۔' الطبرانی نے الاوسط میں روایت کیا ہے کہ ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا، 'اللہ عام طور پر عرفہ والوں پر فخر کرتا ہے اور خاص طور پر عمر پر فخر کرتا ہے۔' انہوں نے یہی بات الکبیر میں ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کی ایک حدیث میں بھی روایت کی ہے۔

Al-Bazzar narrated from Qudamah ibn Madhcun that his paternal uncle cUthman ibn Madhcun said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘This one is the lock upon the fitnah (sedition and trials),’ and he indicated cUmar with his hand. ‘There will remain a door strongly locked between you and the fitnah as long as this one lives among you.’ At-Tabarani narrated in al-Awsat that Ibn cAbbas, may Allah be pleased with both him and his father, said: Jibril came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said, ‘Greet cUmar with the greeting of peace and inform him that his anger is might and his good pleasure is judgement.’ Ibn cAsakir narrated that cA’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, sa id that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘The shay tan is afraid of cUmar.’ Ahmad narrated byway of Buraydah that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘The shaytan is afraid of you, ‘Umar.’ Ibn cAsakir narrated that Ibn cAbbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘There is no angel in the heaven that does not respect ‘ Umar, and no shaytan on the earth but that is afraid of cUmar.’ At-Tabarani narrated in al-Awsat that Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘Allah glories in the people of cArafah generally and He glories in cUmar particularly.’ He narrated the same in al-Kabir in a hadith of Ibn cAbbas, may Allah be pleased with them both.

طبرانی اور دیلمی نے روایت کیا ہے کہ فضل بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا، 'میرے بعد حق جہاں بھی ہو عمر کے ساتھ ہے۔' شیخین نے روایت کیا ہے کہ ابن عمر اور ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا: نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا، 'جب میں سو رہا تھا تو میں نے خود کو ایک کنویں پر دیکھا جس پر ایک بالٹی تھی، چنانچہ میں نے اللہ نے جو چاہا اس قدر اس سے پانی نکالا۔ پھر بعد میں ابوبکر نے اسے لیا اور ایک یا دو بھر کر بالٹیاں نکالیں، اور ان کے نکالنے میں کچھ کمزوری تھی، اور اللہ انہیں معاف فرما دے گا۔ پھر عمر بن الخطاب آئے اور پانی نکالا تو وہ ان کے ہاتھ میں ایک بڑی بالٹی میں بدل گیا، اور میں نے لوگوں کے کسی سردار کو ایسے حیرت انگیز کام کرتے نہیں دیکھا جیسے انہوں نے کیے، یہاں تک کہ لوگوں نے اپنی پیاس بجھا لی اور (وہاں پانی کے پاس) ٹھہر گئے۔' امام نووی نے اپنی کتاب تہذیب میں کہا ہے: اہل علم کہتے ہیں، 'یہ (حدیث) ابوبکر اور عمر کی خلافتوں، اور عمر کے زمانے میں فتوحات کی کثرت اور اسلام کی فتح کی طرف اشارہ کرتی ہے۔' طبرانی نے روایت کیا ہے کہ سدیسہ نے کہا: نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا، 'شیطان جب سے عمر کے اسلام لانے کے بعد ملا ہے، وہ اپنے منہ کے بل گر پڑا ہے۔' دارقطنی نے اس حدیث کو الافراد میں سدیسہ کے واسطے سے حفصہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے روایت کیا ہے۔

At-Tabarani and ad-Daylami narrated that al-Fadl ibn cAbbas said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘The truth, after me, is with cUmar wherever he is.’ The two Shaykhs narrated that Ibn cUmar and Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with both of them, said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘While I was asleep I saw myself at a well upon which was a bucket, so I drew from it as long as Allah willed. Then later Abu Bakr took it and drew a full bucket or two, and in his drawing there was some weakness, and Allah will forgive him. Then cUmar ibn al-Khattab came and drew water and it became transformed in his hand into a large bucket, and I have not seen a chief of the people do wonderful deeds such as he did, until the people had satisfied their thirst and settled down (there by the water).’ An-Nawawi said in his Tahdhib: The men of knowledge say, ‘This points to the khilafahs of Abu Bakr and cUmar, and to the great number of conquests and the victory of Islam in the time of cUmar.’ At-Tabarani narrated that Sadisah said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘The shaytan has not met cUmar since he accepted Islam but that he fell upon his face.’ Ad-Daraqutni narrated this hadith in al-Afrad by way of Sadisah from Hafsah.

طبرانی نے روایت کیا ہے کہ ابی بن کعب رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا: نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا، 'جبرائیل علیہ السلام نے مجھ سے کہا، "اسلام عمر کی وفات پر روئے"۔' طبرانی نے الاوسط میں روایت کیا ہے کہ ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا:

At-Tabarani narrated that Ubayy ibn Kacb said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘Jibril said to me, “Let Islam weep over the death of cUmar.’” At-Tabarani narrated in al-Awsat that Abu Sacid al-Khudri said:

نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا، 'جس نے عمر سے ناراضگی اختیار کی اس نے مجھ سے ناراضگی اختیار کی، اور جس نے عمر سے محبت کی اس نے مجھ سے محبت کی۔ اللہ تعالیٰ عام طور پر عرفات کی شام لوگوں پر فخر کرتا ہے اور خاص طور پر عمر پر فخر کرتا ہے۔ اللہ تعالیٰ نے کوئی نبی نہیں بھیجا مگر یہ کہ اس کی امت میں ایک الہام پانے والا شخص رکھا، اور اگر میری امت میں ایسا کوئی ہے تو وہ عمر ہے۔' انہوں نے پوچھا، 'اے اللہ کے نبی ﷺ، وہ کس طرح الہام پانے والا؟' آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا، 'فرشتے اس کی زبان سے کلام کرتے ہیں۔' اس کی سند حسن ہے۔

The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘Whoever is angry with cUmar is angry with me. Whoever loves cUmar loves me. Allah glories in the people on the evening of cArafah generally, and He glories in cUmar particularly. Allah has not sent a prophet except that he put among his ummah an inspired man and if there is one such in my ummah then it is cUmar.’ They said, ‘Prophet of Allah, how inspired?’ He said, ‘The angels speak by his tongue.’ Its isnad is hasan (good).
