যেকোনো সম্পত্তির উপাদান খুঁটিয়ে পরীক্ষা করলে স্পষ্ট হয় যে তা প্রাকৃতিকভাবে বিদ্যমান হোক, যেমন একটি ব্যাঙের ছাতা, অথবা মানুষের চেষ্টায় তৈরি হোক, যেমন একটি রুটি বা একটি গাড়ি, এগুলো অর্জন করতে পরিশ্রমের প্রয়োজন হয়।

Close examination of any of the property assets, whether they exist naturally, like a mushroom or whether they exist by man’s effort, such as a loaf or a car, clearly suggests that their acquisition requires work.

‘আমল’ (কাজ) শব্দটির অর্থ ব্যাপক; এর প্রকার ও রূপ অসংখ্য, এবং এর ফলাফলও বিভিন্ন। তাই শরীয়াহ (ইসলামী বিধান) ‘আমল’ শব্দটিকে তার নিরঙ্কুশ রূপে সংজ্ঞায়িত না করে ছেড়ে দেয়নি। আবার তা সাধারণ আকারেও সংজ্ঞায়িত করেনি, বরং কিছু নির্দিষ্ট ধরনের কাজের উল্লেখ করেছে। এতে কাজের প্রকারসমূহ এবং যেগুলো মালিকানার বৈধ মাধ্যম হিসেবে গৃহীত, তাও স্পষ্ট করা হয়েছে। কাজের বর্ণনাকারী ইলাহী বিধানসমূহ পর্যালোচনা করলে দেখা যায়, বৈধ সম্পদ অর্জনের মাধ্যম হিসেবে বিবেচিত আইনসম্মত কাজের প্রকারসমূহ নিম্নরূপ:

The term ’Amal (work) has a wide meaning encompassing numerous types and forms and has various results, therefore the Shar’a (divine legislation) did not leave the word ‘Amal in its absolute form without definition. It also did not define ‘Amal in a general form but mentioned certain specific forms of work. It demonstrated the types of work and those that are accepted to be means of ownership. By examining the divine rules that describe work, it appears that the types of legal work, which are a valid means of possessing property, are the following:

১. অব্যবহৃত (মৃত) জমি আবাদ করা।

1. Cultivation of unused (dead) land.

2. পৃথিবীর অভ্যন্তরে অথবা বাতাসে বিদ্যমান বস্তু বের করে আনা।

2. Extracting that which exists inside the earth, or in the air.

৩. শিকার।

3. Hunting.

৪. দালালি (সামসারা) ও কমিশন এজেন্সি (দালালা)।

4. Brokerage (Samsara) and Commission Agency (Dalala).

৫. শারীরিক শ্রম ও মূলধনের অংশীদারিত্ব (মুদারাবা)।

5. Partnership of body and capital (Mudharaba).

৬. মুসাকাত (ফসলের অংশীদারি চাষ)।

6. Sharecropping (Musaqat).

৭. অন্যের জন্য বেতনের বিনিময়ে কাজ করা।

7. Working for others for a wage.
