কুরআন ও সুন্নাহর বাণী বহু বিষয় নিয়ে আলোচনা করে, যেমন পূর্ববর্তী জাতিসমূহের কাহিনী, কিয়ামতের দিন এবং অন্যান্য বিষয়। তবে যে বক্তব্য বিশেষভাবে আমাদের কর্মের বিষয়ে আলোচনা করে, অর্থাৎ কী করতে হবে আর কী করা যাবে না, তাকে হুকমে শারঈ (Hukm Shar‟i) বলা হয়।

The text of both the Qur‟an and Sunnah address many topics such as, stories of previous nations, the Day of Judgment, and others. However, the text, which specifically addresses our actions of what to do or what not to do, is referred to as Hukm Shar‟i.

"হুকমে শার‘ঈ" আরবি শব্দ, যার অর্থ আমাদের কর্মসংক্রান্ত আইনপ্রণেতার (আশ-শারি‘) সম্বোধন। ইসলাম আমাদের সকল কর্ম সম্পর্কে বিধান দেয়, তা অনুমোদিত হোক বা না হোক। সুতরাং আমাদের সমস্ত কর্ম হুকমে শার‘ঈ দ্বারা পরিচালিত হওয়া আবশ্যক। আল্লাহ (সুবহানাহু ওয়া তা‘আলা) বলেন:

The term Hukm Shar‟i, in Arabic, means the address of the Legislator related to our actions. Islam addresses all of our actions, whether they are permitted or not. Accordingly, all of our actions have to be guided by the Hukm Shar‟i. Allah (swt) says:

“যারা আল্লাহ যা নাযিল করেছেন তদনুযায়ী শাসন করে না, তারাই সীমালঙ্ঘনকারী।” (সূরা আল-মায়িদাহ: ৪৫)

“Whoso rules not according to what Allah has sent down they are the transgressors.” (TMQ Al-Maidah: 45)

“কোনো মুমিন পুরুষ বা মুমিন নারীর জন্য এমন অধিকার নেই যে, আল্লাহ ও তাঁর রাসূল ﷺ কোনো বিষয়ে সিদ্ধান্ত দিলে তারা নিজেদের কাজে-কর্মে ইচ্ছামতো সিদ্ধান্ত নেবে। আর যে ব্যক্তি আল্লাহ ও তাঁর রাসূল ﷺ-এর অবাধ্যতা করে, সে সুস্পষ্ট বিভ্রান্তিতে পথভ্রষ্ট হয়।” (TMQ আল-আহযাব: ৩৬)

“It is not for any believing man or woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, to have any choice for themselves in their affairs. For whoever rebels against Allah and His Messenger has gone astray into manifest error.” (TMQ Al-Ahzab: 36)
