أ --- قال الله تعالى: {وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَصَعِقَ مَن فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَن فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا مَن شَاءَ اللَّهُ ۖ ثُمَّ نُفِخَ فِيهِ أُخْرَىٰ فَإِذَا هُم قِيَامٌ يَنظُرُونَ}. (الزمر: 68)

A ---Allah the Almighty says: {And the Trumpet will be blown, and all who are in the heavens and all who are on the earth will swoon away, except him whom Allah wills. Then it will be blown a second time, and behold they will be standing, looking on (waiting)}. (AzZumar, 68)

وَقَدْ ذُكِرَ هُنَا نَفْخَتَانِ: الأُولَى لِلصَّعْقِ لِمَنْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَنْ فِي الأَرْضِ، وَالثَّانِيَةُ لِلْبَعْثِ.

Here two blowings were mentioned, the first for the swooning of all in the heavens and all who are on the earth, and the second for the Resurrection.

وفي آية أخرى يقول الله تعالى: {وَيَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِي الصُّورِ فَفَزِعَ مَن فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَن فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا مَن شَاءَ اللَّهُ} (النمل: 87). وتدل هذه الآية على ما يُسمى نفخة الفزع.

In another verse Allah says: {And (remember) the Day on which the Trumpet will be blown - and all who are in the heavens and all who are on the earth, will be terrified except him whom Allah will (exempt)}. (An-Naml, 87) This verse implies that there will be a socalled blowing of Terror.

ومن فسّر الفزع في هذه الآية بالصعقة، فإنه يرجع به إلى النفخة الأولى التي ذُكرت في سورة الزمر، وقد عضّد هذا التفسيرَ الحديثُ الذي رواه الإمام مسلم، وفيه قال رسول الله ﷺ في الحديث الذي رواه ابن عمرو (رضي الله عنهما): «...

However, whosoever interpreted the terror in this verse by the swooning, for him terror refers to the first blowing that is mentioned in the Surah of Az-Zumar. This interpretation is supported by the Hadith transmitted by Imam Muslim that reads: Allah's Messenger (Peace be upon him) said in the Hadith narrated by Ibn 'Amr (May Allah be pleased with them): "...

ثُمَّ يُنْفَخُ فِي الصُّورِ فَلَا يَسْمَعُهُ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا أَصْغَى لِيتًا وَرَفَعَ لِيتًا، وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ يَسْمَعُهُ رَجُلٌ يَلُوطُ حَوْضَ إِبِلِهِ، فَيَصْعَقُ وَيَصْعَقُ النَّاسُ، ثُمَّ يُرْسِلُ اللَّهُ – أَوْ قَالَ: يُنْزِلُ اللَّهُ – مَطَرًا كَأَنَّهُ الطَّلُّ، فَتَنْبُتُ مِنْهُ أَجْسَادُ النَّاسِ، ثُمَّ يُنْفَخُ فِيهِ أُخْرَى فَإِذَا هُمْ قِيَامٌ يَنْظُرُونَ.

Then the trumpet would be blown and no one would hear that but he would bend his neck to one side and raise it from the other side and the first one to hear that trumpet would be the person who would be busy in setting right the tank meant for providing water to the camels. He would swoon and the other people would also swoon, then Allah would send or He would cause to send rain which would be like dew and there would grow out of it the bodies of the people. Then the second trumpet would be blown and they would stand up and begin to look (around).

ثم يُقال: يا أيها الناس، اذهبوا إلى ربكم، وقِفوهم هناك. فيُسألون. ثم يُقال: أخرِجوا بعثاً من النار. فيُقال: كم؟ فيُقال: تسعمائة وتسعة وتسعون من كل ألف إلى النار، وذلك اليوم الذي يجعل الولدان شيباً من هوله، وذلك اليوم الذي قيل فيه: ﴿يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَن سَاقٍ﴾ (القلم: ٤٢). [مسلم]

Then it would be said: 0 people, go to your Lord, and make them stand there. And they would be questioned. Then it would be said: Bring out a group (out of them) for the Hell-Fire. And then it would be asked: How much?It would be said: Nine hundred and ninety-nine out of one thousand for the Hell-Fire and that would be the day which would make the children old because of its terror and that would be the day about which it has been said: {On the day when the shank would be uncovered}. (lxviii. 42)." (Muslim)

من فسّر الفزع بغير الصعق، فجعله نفخةً ثالثةً قبل النفختين المذكورتين. ويعضد هذا القول الحديثُ الطويل في الصور، وفيه أن النفخات ثلاث: نفخةُ الفزع، ونفخةُ الصعق، ونفخةُ القيام لرب العالمين.

Whosoever interpreted the terror by other than the swooning, for him it is a third blowing prior to the aforementioned two. This viewpoint is supported by the lengthy Hadith of the Horn, in which there are three blowings: the blowing of Terror, the blowing of Swooning, and the blowing of the Raising before the Lord of the Worlds.
