أ--- قال اللہ تعالیٰ: {هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ إِذْ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ الْأَرْضِ وَإِذْ أَنتُمْ أَجِنَّةٌ فِي بُطُونِ أُمَّهَاتِكُمْ ۖ فَلَا تُزَكُّوا أَنفُسَكُمْ ۖ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ اتَّقَىٰ} (النجم: 32)

A--- Allah the Almighty says: {He knows you well when He created you from the earth (Adam), and when you were fetuses in your mothers' wombs. So ascribe not purity to yourselves. He knows best him who fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him (i.e. those who are Al-Muttaqun (the pious)}. (An-Najm, 32)

عن عبد الله بن مسعود رضي الله عنه قال: حدثنا رسول الله ﷺ، وهو الصادق المصدوق قال: «إن أحدكم يُجمع خلقه في بطن أمه أربعين يوماً، ثم يكون علقةً مثل ذلك، ثم يكون مضغةً مثل ذلك، ثم يُرسل إليه الملك فينفخ فيه الروح، ويُؤمر بأربع كلمات: بكتب رزقه، وأجله، وعمله، وشقيٌّ أو سعيد. فوالذي لا إله غيره، إن أحدكم ليعمل بعمل أهل الجنة حتى ما يكون بينه وبينها إلا ذراع، فيسبق عليه الكتاب، فيعمل بعمل أهل النار فيدخلها، وإن أحدكم ليعمل بعمل أهل النار حتى ما يكون بينه وبينها إلا ذراع، فيسبق عليه الكتاب، فيعمل بعمل أهل الجنة فيدخلها».

Narrated' Abdullah Ibn Mas'ud (May Allah be pleased with him): Allah's Messenger, the true and truly inspired said: "(The matter of the Creation of) a human being is put together in the womb of the mother in forty days, and then he becomes a clot of thick blood for a similar period, and then a piece of flesh for a similar period. Then Allah sends an angel who is ordered to write four things. He is ordered to write down his (i.e. the new creature's) deeds, his livelihood, his (date of) death, and whether he will be blessed or wretched (in religion). Then the soul is breathed into him. So, a man amongst you may do (good deeds till there is only a cubit between him and Paradise and then what has been written for him decides his behavior and he starts doing (evil) deeds characteristic of the people of the (Hell) Fire. And similarly a man amongst you may do (evil)

...الأعمال حتى لا يكون بينه وبين النار إلا ذراع، فيسبق عليه الكتاب فيعمل بعمل أهل النار، ويعمل حتى يكون بينه وبين الجنة إلا ذراع، فيسبق عليه الكتاب فيعمل بعمل أهل الجنة. [البخاري ومسلم]

deeds till there is only a cubit between him and the (Hell) Fire and then what has been written for him decides his behavior, and he starts doing deeds characteristic of the people of Paradise.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
