আল্লাহ বলেন, {আর চোর, সে পুরুষ হোক বা নারী, তাদের উভয়ের হাত কেটে দাও: তাদের কৃতকর্মের প্রতিফল এবং আল্লাহর পক্ষ থেকে দৃষ্টান্তমূলক শাস্তি। আর আল্লাহ পরাক্রমশালী, প্রজ্ঞাময়।} (৫:৩৮)

Allah says, {As to the thief, male or female, cut off his or her hand: retribution for their deed and exemplary punishment from Allah, and Allah is exalted in power, full of Wisdom.} (5:38)

ইবনু শিহাব মন্তব্য করেছেন, "আল্লাহ মানুষের সম্পদ চুরিকারী যে কাউকে তার হাত কেটে দেওয়ার মাধ্যমে কঠোরভাবে শাস্তি দিয়েছেন। আর তিনি প্রতিশোধ গ্রহণে মহাপরাক্রমশালী এবং তাঁর নির্ধারিত চোরদের শাস্তি প্রয়োগে পরিপূর্ণ প্রজ্ঞাময়।"

Ibn Shihab commented, 'I Allah severely punished whosoever steals people's property by cutting off his / her hand. And He is Almighty in retribution and full of wisdom in dispensing the penalty he has prescribed for thieves.

নবী ﷺ বলেছেন, "যখন কোনো ব্যভিচারী অবৈধ যৌন সম্পর্কে লিপ্ত হয়, তখন সে সেই কাজ করার সময় মুমিন থাকে না; আর যখন কেউ মদ পান করে, তখন সে পান করার সময় মুমিন থাকে না; এবং যখন কোনো চোর চুরি করে, তখন সে চুরি করার সময় মুমিন থাকে না। তবে তওবার দরজা সাধারণত খোলা থাকে।"

The Prophet said, "When an adulterer commits illegal sexual intercourse, then he is not a believer at the time he is doing it, and when somebody drinks an alcoholic drink, then he is not a believer at the time of drinking it, and when a thief steals, he is not a believer at the time he is stealing. The door of repentance is usually open ".
