Diversos livros sobre Usul al-Fiqh estão disponíveis em inglês, porém, após analisá-los, fica claro que a maioria foi escrita para fins acadêmicos e não para o leitor comum. Nesse sentido, destaca-se o excelente livro escrito por Abu Tariq Hilal intitulado „Studies in Usul al-Fiqh", que foi redigido em um estilo claro e simples, compreensível para o leitor mediano.

Various books on Usul al-Fiqh are available in English, however after reviewing them it becomes clear that most are written for academic purposes rather than for the normal reader. In this regard the excellent book written by Abu Tariq Hilal entitled „Studies in Usul al-Fiqh‟ stands out. It was written in a clear simple style understandable to the average reader.

Reestruturei ligeiramente o livro, de modo que as fontes definitivas da legislação sejam discutidas antes daquelas sobre as quais há divergência entre os estudiosos. Os capítulos sobre o Alcorão, o Qiyas, o Ijtihad e o Taqleed eram breves no original. Acrescentei a eles e, em alguns casos, reescrevi seções onde era necessário um maior desenvolvimento. Nesta era de dúvida e ceticismo, considerei necessário acrescentar algumas evidências textuais e referências muito necessárias para algumas definições e Ahadith. Para distinguir esta versão revisada do original, foi dado um novo título que mantém a simplicidade do original.

I have slightly restructured the book so that the definitive sources of law are discussed before those upon which there is disagreement amongst the scholars. The chapters on the Quran, Qiyas, Ijtihad and Taqleed were brief in the original. I have added to these and in some cases rewritten sections where elaboration was required. In this age of doubt and scepticism I felt it necessary to add some textual evidences and much needed references for some definitions and Ahadith. To distinguish this amended version from the original a new title has been given that keeps to the simplicity of the original.

É claro que, ao escrever o original, Abu Tariq se referiu à obra-prima do Sheikh Taqiuddin an-Nabhani (ra), „Shaksiyyah Islamiyyah‟ (A Personalidade Islâmica). Eu fiz o mesmo, além de me referir ao excelente livro „Teyseer al wusool Ila al-Usul‟ (Para tornar fácil o entendimento do Usul) do Sheikh Ata ibn Khalil Abu al-Rishta (que Allah o proteja).

It is clear that in writing the original, Abu Tariq referred to Sheikh Taqiuddin an-Nabhani‟s (ra) masterpiece „Shaksiyyah Islamiyyah‟ (The Islamic Personality). I have done the same, as well as referring to the excellent book „Teyseer al wusool Ila al-Usul‟ (To make understanding Usul easy) by Sheikh Ata ibn Khalil Abu al-Rishta (May Allah protect him).
