مقدام بن معد کریب رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا: "بے شک مجھے قرآن اور اس کے ساتھ اس جیسی ایک اور چیز (سنت) بھی عطا کی گئی ہے، لیکن عنقریب ایک ایسا وقت آئے گا جب ایک شخص اپنے تخت پر لیٹا ہوا ہوگا اور اس کا پیٹ بھرا ہوا ہوگا، اور وہ کہے گا کہ 'تمہیں صرف اسی قرآن پر عمل کرنا چاہیے، جو اس میں حلال پاؤ اسے حلال سمجھو اور جسے اس میں حرام پاؤ اسے حرام سمجھو'۔ لیکن حقیقت یہ ہے کہ اللہ کے رسول ﷺ جس چیز سے منع فرماتے ہیں وہ بالکل ویسی ہی ہے جیسے اللہ منع فرماتا ہے۔" آج تک لوگوں کے مختلف گروہ ابھرتے رہتے ہیں جو سنت (پیغمبرانہ روایت) کو غیر مستند ثابت کرنے کی کوشش کرتے ہیں تاکہ قرآن کی ان قطعی تشریحات سے بچ سکیں جو سنت فراہم کرتی ہے۔

Miqdām ibn Ma‘d Karib  reports that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “Indeed, I have been given the Qur’an and something similar to it along with it. But soon there will be a time when a man will be reclining on his couch with a full stomach, and he will say, ‘You should only adhere to this Qur’an. What you find it deeming permissible, consider it permissible, and what you find it deeming forbidden, consider it forbidden.’ But indeed, whatever the Messenger of Allah forbids is like what Allah forbids.”315 To this day, there continue to arise different groups of people who attempt to delegitimize the Sunnah (prophetic tradition) in order to avoid the definitive interpretations it provides of the Qur’an.
