La grandeza moral e intelectual del mensaje traído por el Profeta Muhammad ﷺ —a saber, el Corán y la Sunnah (su ejemplo profético)— da testimonio de su veracidad. Como argumentó Platón en su famosa tríada de valores trascendentales, la verdad, la belleza y la bondad son inseparables. En ese sentido, apreciar la pureza y la belleza inherentes al estilo de vida islámico no solo nos atrae hacia su mensaje, sino que también confirma la legitimidad de su último profeta como mensajero de la Divinidad. El mensaje también puede dar fe de la profecía de Muhammad ﷺ por su concordancia con el mensaje de otros profetas en puntos fundamentales de la creencia. El Antiguo Testamento afirma que las enseñanzas de un profeta son lo que revela su verdadera identidad,165 y también advierte que, incluso si alguien es capaz de predecir el futuro, sigue siendo un falso profeta si llama a adorar a otros dioses.

The moral and intellectual greatness of the message brought by the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم —namely the Qur’an and Sunnah (his prophetic example)—testifies to its truth. As Plato famously argued in his triad of transcendental values, truth, beauty, and goodness are inseparable. In that sense, appreciating the inherent purity and beauty of the Islamic lifestyle not only attracts us to its message, but also confirms the legitimacy of its final prophet as a messenger from the Divine. The message can also vouch for the prophethood of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم by way of its alignment with the message of other prophets on fundamental creedal points. The Old Testament argues that the teachings of a prophet are what reveal his true identity,165 and also warns that even if someone is able to predict the future, they are a still a false prophet if they call to worshipping other gods.

Una persona también puede maravillarse ante la enorme cantidad de lo que se ha documentado sobre la breve misión de Muhammad ﷺ entre los años 610 y 632 d. C. El Corán y la Sunnah no pueden compararse con la Biblia, por ejemplo, pues esta no contiene solamente las enseñanzas de Moisés, sino que es un canon histórico compilado cuyo desarrollo abarcó siglos. Considerando la calidad de su contenido y la amplitud de su alcance, lo que el Profeta ﷺ enseñó sigue distinguiéndose como un mensaje de excepcional profundidad y valor. Definió la relación de las personas con su Creador, con quienes les rodean, e incluso con los animales y los objetos inanimados, y ofreció una sabiduría atemporal sobre todo lo relacionado con el bienestar individual y colectivo.

A person can also marvel at the sheer volume of what has been documented of Muhammad’s صلى الله عليه وسلم brief ministry from 610-632 CE. The Qur’an and Sunnah cannot be compared with the Bible, for instance, since the latter does not solely contain the teachings of Moses but rather is an aggregated historical canon whose development spanned centuries. Considering the quality of its substance and breadth of its scope, what the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم taught continues to distinguish itself as a message of exceptional depth and value. It defined people’s relationships with their Maker, with those around them, even with animals and inanimate objects, and provided timeless wisdom about everything related to their individual and collective well-being.

Desde ahí, uno puede sentirse inclinado a considerar su coherencia interna: la armonía de un corpus tan completo, que orienta la teología, la iluminación espiritual, la virtud individual, el comportamiento interpersonal, las leyes civiles y las políticas exteriores con una complejidad tal que llevó a muchos a lo largo de la historia a considerarlo milagroso.

From there, one may be drawn to consider its internal consistency; the harmony of such a comprehensive corpus that informs theology, spiritual enlightenment, individual virtue, interpersonal behavior, civil laws, and foreign policies with such intricacy that led many throughout history to find it miraculous.

Vieron esta faceta del mensaje final como algo que supera la sofisticación humana, y que con mayor razón era un equilibrio que solo podía atribuirse a la naturaleza perfecta de Dios.

They saw this facet of the final message as beyond human sophistication, and more reasonably a balancing act that could only be attributable to God’s perfect nature.

Finalmente, la profundidad del mensaje se hace aún más evidente cuando se contrasta con otras doctrinas religiosas que decayeron ante las críticas o simplemente con el paso del tiempo. En nuestra era tecnológica, que ha facilitado la globalización de las ideas y la verificación de los hechos, mucha más gente abandona el cristianismo que el islam en Europa y Norteamérica. El crecimiento del islam, en cambio, pese a sus numerosos detractores, sigue demostrando su veracidad intrínseca, así como su universalidad a través del tiempo y del lugar, siendo viable para personas de muy distintos niveles educativos, económicos y culturales. Las leyes del islam, así como sus doctrinas religiosas, también siguen perdurando, mientras que ninguna sociedad ha logrado concebir un sistema comparable, siempre vigente, que ofrezca equilibrio y bienestar integral a personas de todos los ámbitos de la vida.

Finally, the profundity of the message becomes further evident when contrasted with other religious doctrines that waned in the face of criticism or simply with the passage of time. In our technological age which has facilitated the globalization of ideas and fact-checking, far more people leave Christianity than Islam in Europe and North America. Islam’s growth despite its many detractors, on the other hand, continues to demonstrate its inherent veracity as well as its universality across time and place, being viable for people of very different educational, economic, and cultural backgrounds. The laws of Islam as well as its religious doctrines also continue to endure, while no society has been able to devise a comparable ever-relevant system that offers equilibrium and holistic well-being to people of all walks of life.
