5.3 Indirect Revelation
A grande maioria da revelação de Allah foi transmitida aos profetas por meio do anjo da revelação, Jibreel. O último livro de revelação, o Alcorão, foi revelado dessa maneira em sua maior parte. Essa forma de revelação chegou ao Profeta ﷺ de duas maneiras: seja na forma de um som ressonante, semelhante ao badalar de um sino, seja na forma da fala direta do anjo.
The vast majority of Allaah’s revelation was conveyed to the prophets by way of the angel of revelation, Jibreel. The final book of revelation, the Qur’aan, was revealed in this way for the most part. This form of revelation reached the Prophet (ﷺ) in two ways: either in the form of the reverbrating sound like the gong of a bell, or in the form of the direct speech of the angel.
No primeiro caso, o anjo permaneceu em um estado espiritual, e o Profeta ﷺ
In the first case, the angel remained in a spiritual state and the Prophet (r)
...era obrigado a elevar-se espiritualmente a um estado adequado para receber a revelação. Este método era extremamente penoso para o Profeta ﷺ. Durante ele, a voz do anjo assemelhava-se ao toque forte de um grande sino. O sahaabee al-Haarith ibn Hishaam certa vez perguntou ao Profeta ﷺ como a revelação lhe chegava. O Profeta ﷺ respondeu:
was required to raise spiritually to a suitable state in which to receive the revelation. This method was extremely taxing on the Prophet (ﷺ). During it the voice of the angel resembled the loud ringing of a giant bell. The sahaabee alHaarith ibn Hishaam once asked the Prophet (ﷺ) to describe how the revelation came to him. The Prophet (ﷺ) replied,
"Às vezes ela me vem como o toque de um sino — esta é a forma mais severa para mim — então o toque cessa e eu compreendo o que (o anjo) disse." 20
“Sometimes it comes to me like the ringing of a bell—this is the most severe form for me—then the ringing ceases and I have understood what (the angel) said.” 20
“Aa’ishah descreveu a intensidade dessa forma da seguinte maneira: “Eu o vi quando a revelação (wahy) descia sobre ele em um dia extremamente frio, e, quando ela cessava, sua testa estava pingando de suor.” ﷺ21
‘Aa’ishah described the intensity of this form as follows: “I have seen him when revelation (wahy) descended upon him on an extremely cold day, yet when it stopped his forehead would be dripping with sweat.”21
O segundo método foi muito mais fácil para o Profeta ﷺ suportar do que o primeiro.
The second method was much easier for the Prophet (ﷺ) to bear than the first.
Nesse caso, o anjo deixaria o mundo espiritual e apareceria ao Profeta ﷺ
In this case, the angel would leave the spiritual world, appear to the Prophet (ﷺ)
em forma humana e transmitir a revelação por meio da fala humana. O Profeta (ﷺ) descreveu essa forma a al-Haarith ibn Hishaam da seguinte maneira:
in human form and pass on the revelation in the medium of human speech. The Prophet (ﷺ) described this form to al-Haarith ibn Hishaam as follows:
"Ocasionalmente o anjo aparece diante de mim na forma de um homem e fala comigo, e eu compreendo tudo o que ele diz." 22
“Occasionally the angel appears before me in the form of a man and speaks to me, and I grasp all that he says.” 22
