O processo de educação depende dos dois princípios básicos a seguir: (a) levar em conta o nível mental dos alunos, e (b) desenvolver suas capacidades mentais, espirituais e físicas com um material que oriente seus processos de pensamento na direção correta. Ambos os princípios importantes foram cuidadosamente considerados pela revelação do Alcorão em partes.

The process of education depends on the following two basic principles: (a) taking into account the mental level of the students, and (b) developing their mental, spiritual and physical abilities with material which guides their thought processes in the correct direction. Both of these important principles have been carefully taken into consideration by the revelation of the Qur’aan in segments.

A gradação da legislação levou em conta o nível da comunidade muçulmana durante as suas diversas fases de desenvolvimento. A revelação de correções e respostas no momento em que eram mais necessárias treinou, desenvolveu e orientou as faculdades mentais, espirituais e físicas na direção certa.

Gradation of legislation took into account the level of the Muslim community during its various stages of development. The revelation of corrections and answers at the time when they were most needed trained, developed and guided the mental, spiritual and physical faculties in the right direction.

A questão que naturalmente surge aqui é por que os livros de revelação anteriores foram revelados de uma só vez. A resposta a essa pergunta está no papel dos livros anteriores e na história da profecia. Os livros anteriores foram enviados por períodos curtos da história humana e foram direcionados a nações ou tribos específicas.

The question which naturally arises here is why the earlier books of revelation were revealed as a whole. The answer to this question lies in the role of the earlier books and the history of prophethood. The earlier books were sent for short periods in human history and were directed to specific nations or tribes.

Eles continham princípios que não estavam ligados ao tempo ou à situação e que podiam ser revelados de uma só vez, no início de uma missão ou em qualquer momento dela. Deve-se também observar que os livros anteriores não eram, por si mesmos, milagres, ao passo que, no caso do Último Profeta (ﷺ), o Alcorão foi-lhe dado como o grande milagre, pois, como foi mencionado anteriormente, a segmentação da revelação combinada com a consistência do estilo era uma prova de sua origem divina. Além disso, os profetas anteriores foram precedidos e seguidos por outros profetas, de modo que cada profeta e seu livro representavam um segmento da revelação global. Assim, a gradação na legislação ocorreu de profeta para profeta. O Profeta Muhammad (ﷺ) foi o último dos profetas, e seu livro de revelação continha as mensagens essenciais de todos os livros anteriores. Assim, seus seguidores tinham de ser devidamente preparados para levar a mensagem final ao mundo. Por isso, a gradação na legislação teve de ocorrer dentro da própria mensagem.

They contained principles which were not time or situation oriented and could be revealed all at once, at the beginning of a mission or at any point during it. It should also be noted that the earlier books were not in themselves miracles, whereas in the case of the Last Prophet (ﷺ), it was the major miracle given to him, for, as was mentioned earlier, the segmentation of the revelation combined with the consistency of style was a proof of its divine origin. Also, the earlier prophets were both preceded and followed by other prophets, so each prophet and his book represented a segment of the overall revelation. Thus, the gradation in legislation took place from prophet to prophet. Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was the last of the prophets and his book of revelation contained the essential messages of all previous books. Thus, his followers had to be properly prepared to carry the final message to the world. As such, the gradation in legislation had to take place within the message itself.
