5.3 Indirect Revelation
La gran mayoría de la revelación de Allah fue transmitida a los profetas por medio del ángel de la revelación, Jibreel. El último libro revelado, el Corán, fue revelado en su mayor parte de esta manera. Esta forma de revelación llegó al Profeta ﷺ de dos maneras: ya fuera en forma de un sonido resonante como el de la campana de una gong, o en forma del discurso directo del ángel.
The vast majority of Allaah’s revelation was conveyed to the prophets by way of the angel of revelation, Jibreel. The final book of revelation, the Qur’aan, was revealed in this way for the most part. This form of revelation reached the Prophet (ﷺ) in two ways: either in the form of the reverbrating sound like the gong of a bell, or in the form of the direct speech of the angel.
En el primer caso, el ángel permaneció en un estado espiritual y el Profeta ﷺ
In the first case, the angel remained in a spiritual state and the Prophet (r)
se requería elevarse espiritualmente hasta alcanzar un estado adecuado para recibir la revelación. Este método era sumamente agotador para el Profeta (ﷺ). Durante él, la voz del ángel se asemejaba al fuerte tañido de una campana gigantesca. El compañero alHaarith ibn Hishaam le preguntó en una ocasión al Profeta (ﷺ) que describiera cómo le llegaba la revelación. El Profeta (ﷺ) respondió:
was required to raise spiritually to a suitable state in which to receive the revelation. This method was extremely taxing on the Prophet (ﷺ). During it the voice of the angel resembled the loud ringing of a giant bell. The sahaabee alHaarith ibn Hishaam once asked the Prophet (ﷺ) to describe how the revelation came to him. The Prophet (ﷺ) replied,
«A veces me llega como el sonido de una campana; esta es la forma más severa para mí; luego el sonido cesa y he comprendido lo que (el ángel) dijo.» 20
“Sometimes it comes to me like the ringing of a bell—this is the most severe form for me—then the ringing ceases and I have understood what (the angel) said.” 20
«Aa'ishah describió la intensidad de esta forma así: «Lo he visto cuando la revelación (wahy) descendía sobre él en un día extremadamente frío, y sin embargo, cuando cesaba, su frente goteaba de sudor.» ﷺ21
‘Aa’ishah described the intensity of this form as follows: “I have seen him when revelation (wahy) descended upon him on an extremely cold day, yet when it stopped his forehead would be dripping with sweat.”21
El segundo método fue mucho más fácil de soportar para el Profeta (ﷺ) que el primero.
The second method was much easier for the Prophet (ﷺ) to bear than the first.
En este caso, el ángel abandonaría el mundo espiritual y se le aparecería al Profeta ﷺ
In this case, the angel would leave the spiritual world, appear to the Prophet (ﷺ)
en forma humana y transmitir la revelación mediante el lenguaje humano. El Profeta (ﷺ) describió esta forma a al-Haarith ibn Hishaam de la siguiente manera:
in human form and pass on the revelation in the medium of human speech. The Prophet (ﷺ) described this form to al-Haarith ibn Hishaam as follows:
«A veces el ángel se me aparece en forma de hombre y me habla, y comprendo todo lo que dice».ﷺ 22
“Occasionally the angel appears before me in the form of a man and speaks to me, and I grasp all that he says.” 22
