يتمتع جميع البشر، وإن بدرجات متفاوتة، بغرائز وحاجات عضوية تدفعهم إلى القيام بأفعال معينة. فمن الغرائز مثلاً: غريزة التقديس التي تجعل الناس يُجلّون ويعبدون، وغريزة البقاء التي تدفعهم إلى السعي لزيادة أموالهم وحماية حياتهم، وغريزة النسل التي تحثهم على إقامة علاقات جنسية مع الآخرين. وكذلك من الحاجات العضوية: الحاجة إلى الأكل والشرب والتنفس وغير ذلك.

Human beings are all endowed, albeit to different extents, with instincts and organic needs, which drive them to perform certain actions. For example, of the instincts, the sanctification instinct causes people to revere and worship, the survival instinct causes them to seek to increase their wealth and secure their lives, and the procreational instinct urges them to have sexual relationships with others. Similarly, among the organic needs, are the need to eat, drink, breathe etc.

يجب أن تُشبَع جميع الغرائز والحاجات العضوية، فإن لم تُشبَع الغرائز أدّى ذلك إلى الشقاء، وإن لم تُلبَّ الحاجات العضوية أدّى ذلك إلى الهلاك. غير أنّ الإنسان إذا تُرك وشأنه، استعمل عقله في توجيه أفعاله، فيستطيع بذلك أن يُشبع غرائزه وحاجاته العضوية على النحو الذي يشاء. لكنّ عقله محدود القدرة، معرّض للخطأ، وعرضة للأنانية والتحيّز. وبغير هداية، قد يجري إشباع الغرائز والحاجات العضوية على نحوٍ يضرّ بالآخرين؛ فغريزة البقاء مثلاً قد تدفع الأفراد إلى الغش والسرقة من غيرهم طلباً للمزيد من الثروة، وغريزة النسل قد تقود الناس إلى الزنا والفاحشة. وهذان مثالان فقط، فمجالات المشكلات تكاد تكون بلا حدود.

All of the instincts and organic needs must be fulfilled. If the instincts are not satisfied it will lead to misery. If the organic needs are not fulfilled, it will lead to death. However, if human beings are left to their own devices, they use their own minds to direct their actions and can thus fulfil their instincts and organic needs exactly as they please. But their minds are limited in ability, prone to error and subject to selfishness and prejudice. Without guidance, the satisfaction of the instincts and organic needs may be carried out in a way that is harmful to others. For instance, the survival instinct may drive individuals to cheat and steal from others in order to gain more wealth. The procreation instinct may lead people into committing adultery or fornication. These are just a couple of examples, but the scope for problems is almost limitless.

ایسی صورتِ حال فساد اور زمین پر مکمل بگاڑ کا نسخہ ہے۔ جب تک لوگوں کی جبلّتوں کو کسی نہ کسی ضابطے کے تحت منضبط نہیں کیا جاتا، معاشرہ انہی برائیوں میں مبتلا رہے گا جو آج ہمارے اردگرد دکھائی دیتی ہیں، جیسے عبادت کے طور پر بچوں کا ریتی جنسی استحصال، دولت بڑھانے کے ذریعے کے طور پر جرم اور استحصال، یا جنسی خواہش پوری کرنے کے ذریعے کے طور پر ہم جنس پرستی یا زنا بالجبر وغیرہ۔

Such a state of affairs is a recipe for disaster and complete corruption on the earth. Unless the instincts of people are regulated by some kind of guidelines, the society will continue to be plagued by evils of the like we see around us today, such as ritual child abuse as a type of worship; crime and exploitation as a mean of increasing wealth; or homosexuality or rape as a means of fulfilling the sexual urge etc.

بغير هداية من الخالق، لا يملك الإنسان إلا أن يقع في هذا المأزق. وبوضوح، فإن الحاجة قائمة إذن إلى مثل هذه الهداية، لتأتي مخرجًا لجميع الناس، ومن ثم فالحاجة قائمة إلى رسل، ينقلون هذه الهداية من الخالق إلى البشرية.

Without guidance from the Creator, mankind has no option but to fall into this predicament. Clearly then, there is a need for such guidance, to come as a way out for all the people, and thereby a need for messengers, to convey this guidance to mankind from the creator.

إِنَّ الرُّسُلَ قَدْ أُرْسِلُوا إِلَى الْبَشَرِيَّةِ مُنْذُ بِدَايَةِ التَّارِيخِ الإِنْسَانِيِّ، يَحْمِلُونَ هَذِهِ الْهِدَايَةَ وَيَدْعُونَ النَّاسَ إِلَى مَعْرِفَةِ حَقِيقَةِ وُجُودِهِمْ، وَإِدْرَاكِ حَقِيقَةِ حَيَاتِهِمْ وَغَايَتِهَا. قَالَ اللهُ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى:

Indeed, messengers have been sent to mankind since the beginning of human history, carrying this guidance and imploring people to recognise the nature of their existence and to understand the reality and purpose of their lives. Allah (swt) says,.

وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِي كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَسُولًا أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاجْتَنِبُوا الطَّاغُوتَ [سورة النحل: 36].

“And verily We have sent among every nation a Messenger (proclaiming) ‘Worship Allah alone, and avoid evil.’” [TMQ 16:36].

وكان آخر هؤلاء الرسل النبي محمد ﷺ، وبهدايته جاء البيانُ ليس لحقيقة هذا الوجود فحسب، بل أيضاً للمنهاج الذي به يتحقق للإنسانية العدلُ والفلاحُ في الحياة الدنيا والآخرة.

The last of these messengers was Prophet Muhammad (saw) and with his guidance, came the clarification of not only the truth of this existence, but also the code of conduct for humanity to achieve justice and prosperity in both this life and the next.
