[المَيْمُونيّ:] ما رأيتُ أحدًا قطُّ أنظفَ ثوبًا، ولا أحسنَ تعاهدًا لشعرِه وشاربِه وشعرِ جسدِه، من ابنِ حنبل، ولا أشدَّ بياضًا لثيابِه منه. 37.1

[Al-Maymūnī:] I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone who kept his clothes as clean as Ibn Ḥanbal did, or took such good care of his hair, mustache, and body hair, or anyone whose clothing was as immaculately white as his. 37.1

[المروذي:] لم يكن أحمد يذهب إلى الحمّام أبداً. وإذا احتاج إلى إزالة الشعر، فعل ذلك في بيته. وقد أعددتُ له المعجون أكثر من مرة. واشتريتُ له أيضاً قفازاً من الجلد، كان يلبسه ويزيل المعجون بنفسه.195 37.2

[Al-Marrūdhī:] Aḥmad never went to the bathhouse. When he needed to depilate himself, he did it at home. I prepared the paste for him more than once. I also bought him a leather glove. He would put it on and remove the paste himself.195 37.2

أبو العباس: كنتُ مرّةً قد أعددتُ مادةً لإزالة الشعر لأحمد، وبدأتُ أُزيل شعره. فلما وصلتُ إلى منطقة العانة، تولّى هو ذلك بنفسه. 373

[Abū l-ʿAbbās:] I once prepared a depilatory paste for Aḥmad and began removing his hair. When I reached the pubic area, he took over. 37.3
