في اليوم الذي توفي فيه أحمد بن حنبل، عمّ الحزن أربع جماعات: المسلمون، واليهود، والنصارى، والمجوس؛ ومن الثلاث الأخيرة أسلم عشرون ألفًا – أو، كما روى أبو نعيم، عشرة آلاف.[480] 871

The day Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal died, there was an outpouring of grief from four communities: the Muslims, the Jews, the Christians, and the Magians; and of the latter three, twenty thousand—or, as reported by Abū Nuʿaym, ten thousand—embraced Islam.480 87.1

قال ابن حُريث: يوم مات أحمد، انتشر الخبر سريعًا إلى كل بيت، إلا البيوت التي يسكنها العصاة.481 87.2
