خلال فترة ما قبل قيام الدولة، طوّر الیشوب الصهیوني في فلسطین أربع استراتیجیات رئیسة.

During the pre-state period the Zionist Yishuv in Palestine developed four key strategies:

• الاستعمال الواسع لمصطلح فلسطين بالتوازي مع أرض إسرائيل في الصهيونية (من أواخر القرن التاسع عشر حتى عام 1948).

• The widespread use of the term Palestine in tandem with Eretz Israel in Zionism (late 19th century until 1948).

• تملّك الأسماء العربية، ومزج أسماء المستوطنات اليهودية، وتأهيل المستوطنين لتبدو أسماؤهم محلية.

• Appropriation of Arab names, hybridisation of names of Jewish settlements and indigenisation of the settlers.

• توظيف الروايات الأسطورية في الكتاب المقدس و"علم الآثار التوراتي الاستعادي": تعبرٍ عبرية وتوراتية لأسماء الأماكن العربية الفلسطينية

• Instrumentalisation of the myth-narratives of the Bible and ‘restorationist’ biblical archaeology: Hebrewisation and biblicisation of Palestinian Arabic toponyms.

• الاستفادة من قوائم أسماء المواقع الجغرافية الصادرة عن صندوق استكشاف فلسطين، ومن أعمال علماء الآثار التوراتيين الغربيين.

• Utilisation of the toponymic lists of the Palestine Exploration Fund and the works of Western biblical archaeologists.
