Vivir en un estado constante de temor a ser atacado o robado es, sin duda, una situación inaceptable. Los pensamientos e ideas que predominan en la sociedad que nos rodea influyen en la forma en que las personas se comportan, y en esta sociedad las personas están constantemente motivadas a aumentar su riqueza y a prosperar. Pero cuando esto se combina con la noción de libertad, se produce una mezcla peligrosa. Las personas entonces no se imponen límites a la hora de alcanzar estos objetivos, y el crimen se convierte en un camino fácil para cumplirlos.

To live in constant fear of being attacked or robbed is surely an unacceptable state of affairs. The thoughts and ideas that are prevalent in the society around us affect the way people behave and in this society people are constantly motivated to increase their wealth and become prosperous. But, when this is combined with the notion of freedom, a dangerous cocktail is made. People then put no limits for themselves on how to achieve these aims, and crime is an easy way to fulfil them.

Esto ha llegado a tal punto que no son solo unas pocas personas malvadas las que recurren a aprovecharse de los inocentes de esta manera. La delincuencia en Occidente está aumentando sin control. Los robos con allanamiento, los atracos a mano armada, los hurtos, las violaciones y los engaños son peligros que se dan por sentados. Parece que el sentir de toda la sociedad es: «si puedes salirte con la tuya, hazlo». Esto es aún más marcado entre los ricos y poderosos, que usan su autoridad sin piedad sobre los pobres y los débiles. Y así, la gente siente que casi nadie es ya digno de confianza.

This has come to the extent that it is not only a few evil people who resort to preying on the innocent in this way. Crime in the West is escalating uncontrollably. Burglary, mugging, theft, rape and cheating are all dangers which are taken for granted. It seems that the feeling of the whole society is that ‘if you can get away with it, do it.’ This is even moreso among the rich and the powerful, who use their authority mercilessly over the poor and the weak. And so, people feel that almost no-one is trustworthy anymore.

Las medidas que se toman para contrarrestar esta marea mortal son del todo insuficientes. Los delincuentes se burlan de las posibles consecuencias de sus actos, y muchos salen de cortas penas de prisión para volver a delinquir. Las víctimas sienten que obtener justicia del sistema legal actual es prácticamente una esperanza perdida.

The measures that are taken to counteract this deadly tide are wholly inadequate. Criminals mock at the possible consequences of their actions, and many come out of short prison sentences to offend again. Victims feel that to get justice from the current legal system is virtually hopeless.

Todo esto resulta inevitablemente de un sistema judicial hecho por el hombre y de una sociedad gobernada por los caprichos y deseos de las personas.

All this inevitably results from a judicial system that is man-made and a society which is governed by people’s whims and desires.

En el Islam, los individuos sienten una inclinación natural a alejarse del delito, porque su fe y su temor al castigo de Allah (swt) les impiden cometerlo. Asimismo, la actitud de la sociedad hacia el delito es de rechazo total. Las amistades y las familias nunca se sentirán complacidas ni impresionadas por la riqueza obtenida de forma dudosa. Además, el Sistema Económico garantizará que las personas no se vean obligadas a recurrir al delito como medio de supervivencia. Estos factores controlarán automáticamente los niveles de delincuencia en un Estado islámico.

In Islam, individuals are naturally inclined away from crime, because their belief and fear of Allah’s (swt) punishment prevent them from committing it. As well, the attitude in society towards crime is one of total rejection. Friends and families will never be pleased or impressed by wealth that is gained in dubious ways. As well, the Economic System will ensure that people are not forced to resort to crime as a means of survival. These factors will automatically check the levels of crime in an Islamic State.

Como último recurso, el Estado Islámico cuenta con un sistema judicial integral que actúa como disuasión para los criminales y como medio para reformar a quienes se han descarriado. Los castigos severos para quienes han sido declarados culpables de delitos son medidas eficaces contra ello. Después de todo, si ves a alguien caminando con una sola mano porque había sido ladrón, ¿qué sentirías?

As the last resort, the Islamic State has a comprehensive judicial system which acts as a deterrent to criminals, and to reform those who have gone astray. Harsh punishments for those who are proven to be guilty of crimes are effective measures against it. After all, if you see someone walking around with only one hand because he had been a thief, how would you feel?

Sin embargo, verá que el objetivo de la justicia en el Islam no es castigar a las personas lo más posible, sino garantizar los derechos y la seguridad de la gente. El Estado islámico lo logró con éxito durante más de 1300 años, recurriendo muy pocas veces al castigo de alguien.

Even so, you will see that the aim of Justice in Islam is not to punish the people as much as possible, rather it is to guarantee the rights and the security of the people. The Islamic State successfully did this for over 1300 years, only rarely having to resort to punishing anyone.
