Este tipo de medios ofrece modelos a seguir para tus hijos y marca la tendencia sobre cómo debería ser realmente la vida cotidiana. Con frecuencia retratan el tipo de problemas sociales mencionados anteriormente: están llenos de novios, novias, lesbianas y adúlteros.

Have you ever looked at children’s TV programmes, like ‘Neighbours’ and ‘Eastenders’? Or have you glanced at the teenage magazines your daughter or little sister brings home with her every week? This type of media provides role models for your children and sets the trend as to how everyday life should really be. They frequently portray the kind of social issues mentioned above - they are filled with boyfriends, girlfriends, lesbians and adulterers!.

Pero, lo que es más importante, el hecho de que estas cosas estén disponibles libremente en las ondas o en los quioscos de nuestra localidad refleja una política gubernamental subyacente que tiende hacia el liberalismo y la licenciosidad. But more importantly, the fact that these are freely available on the airwaves or in your local newsagents reflects an underlying government policy that tends towards liberalism and licentiousness. According to British law, homosexuality, adultery and one night sexual relationships are perfectly legal. Is it any wonder that so many youngsters follow in the same footsteps?

Por supuesto, no se puede culpar solo a la sociedad por las deficiencias de una generación de jóvenes descarriados. Los padres son igualmente responsables.

Of course, you cannot blame only society for the shortcomings of a generation of wayward youth. The parents are just as much to blame.

After all, if the parents themselves take their values from the same environment, what do you expect they will teach to their children?

Fundamentalmente, ambos problemas surgen de la misma fuente, es decir, la mentalidad de libertad. Bajo el pretexto de la "libertad", las personas quedan sometidas a sus propios caprichos y deseos. Los políticos legislan leyes para gobernarte basándose en sus propias preferencias. Con tantos miembros del gabinete que confiesan ser adúlteros, ¿qué tan seguro te sientes de que la manera en que dirigen tus asuntos y construyen la sociedad que te rodea será adecuada para que tu hijo o hija crezca en ella?

Fundamentally, both of these issues arise from the same source, that is, the mentality of freedom. Under the guise of ‘freedom’ people are subjugated to their own whims and desires. The politicians legislate laws to govern over you on the basis of their own preferences. With so many members of the cabinet being self-confessed adulterers, how confident do you feel that the way they run your affairs and build the society around you will be suitable for your son or daughter to grow up in?

Asimismo, con la libertad viene la falta de responsabilidad. Si un padre o una madre realmente cree en la libertad, ¿qué le impide abusar de sus hijos o descuidarlos? La respuesta es: muy poco.

As well, with freedom comes lack of responsibility. If a parent really believes in freedom, what stops him or her from abusing or neglecting their children? The answer is, very little.

Lo que es peor, el proceso funciona en ambos sentidos. Un niño actuará según los valores y las ideas con los que ha sido criado. Así, en la mayoría de los casos, los niños de Occidente faltan al respeto y desobedecen a sus padres. Y la misma mentalidad egoísta que los impulsa a hacerlo es la razón por la que uno podría encontrarse abandonado en una residencia de ancianos justo cuando más necesita el apoyo de ellos...

What is worse, is that the whole process works both ways. A child will act according to the values and ideas he has been brought up with. Thus, more often than not, children of the West disrespect and disobey their parents. And the same selfish mentality that motivates them to do this, is the reason why you might find yourself stuck in an old people’s home just when you need their support...
