Mensen zijn allemaal, zij het in verschillende mate, begiftigd met instincten en organische behoeften, die hen aanzetten tot het uitvoeren van bepaalde handelingen. Bij de instincten zorgt het instinct voor heiligverering er bijvoorbeeld voor dat mensen vereren en aanbidden, zorgt het overlevingsinstinct ervoor dat zij proberen hun rijkdom te vergroten en hun leven veilig te stellen, en dwingt het voortplantingsinstinct hen tot het aangaan van seksuele relaties met anderen. Vergelijkbaar hiermee behoren tot de organische behoeften de behoefte om te eten, te drinken, te ademen, enzovoort.

Human beings are all endowed, albeit to different extents, with instincts and organic needs, which drive them to perform certain actions. For example, of the instincts, the sanctification instinct causes people to revere and worship, the survival instinct causes them to seek to increase their wealth and secure their lives, and the procreational instinct urges them to have sexual relationships with others. Similarly, among the organic needs, are the need to eat, drink, breathe etc.

Alle instincten en organische behoeften moeten worden vervuld. Als de instincten niet worden bevredigd, zal dit leiden tot ellende. Als de organische behoeften niet worden vervuld, zal dit leiden tot de dood. Echter, als de mens aan zijn lot wordt overgelaten, gebruiken zij hun eigen verstand om hun daden te sturen en kunnen zij zo hun instincten en organische behoeften vervullen precies zoals zij dat willen. Maar hun verstand is beperkt in vermogen, foutgevoelig en onderhevig aan egoïsme en vooroordelen. Zonder leiding kan de bevrediging van de instincten en organische behoeften op een manier worden uitgevoerd die schadelijk is voor anderen. Bijvoorbeeld, het overlevingsinstinct kan individuen ertoe aanzetten om anderen te bedriegen en te bestelen om meer rijkdom te vergaren. Het voortplantingsinstinct kan mensen ertoe leiden overspel of zina te plegen. Dit zijn slechts enkele voorbeelden, maar de ruimte voor problemen is bijna onbeperkt.

All of the instincts and organic needs must be fulfilled. If the instincts are not satisfied it will lead to misery. If the organic needs are not fulfilled, it will lead to death. However, if human beings are left to their own devices, they use their own minds to direct their actions and can thus fulfil their instincts and organic needs exactly as they please. But their minds are limited in ability, prone to error and subject to selfishness and prejudice. Without guidance, the satisfaction of the instincts and organic needs may be carried out in a way that is harmful to others. For instance, the survival instinct may drive individuals to cheat and steal from others in order to gain more wealth. The procreation instinct may lead people into committing adultery or fornication. These are just a couple of examples, but the scope for problems is almost limitless.

Een dergelijke toestand is een recept voor rampen en volledige corruptie op aarde. Tenzij de instincten van mensen worden gereguleerd door een bepaalde vorm van richtlijnen, zal de samenleving blijven worden geteisterd door kwaad zoals we dat vandaag de dag om ons heen zien, zoals rituele kindermishandeling als een vorm van aanbidding; criminaliteit en uitbuiting als een middel om rijkdom te vergroten; of homoseksualiteit of verkrachting als een middel om de seksuele drang te bevredigen, enzovoort.

Such a state of affairs is a recipe for disaster and complete corruption on the earth. Unless the instincts of people are regulated by some kind of guidelines, the society will continue to be plagued by evils of the like we see around us today, such as ritual child abuse as a type of worship; crime and exploitation as a mean of increasing wealth; or homosexuality or rape as a means of fulfilling the sexual urge etc.

Zonder leiding van de Schepper heeft de mensheid geen andere keuze dan in deze nijpende situatie te belanden. Er is dan duidelijk behoefte aan dergelijke leiding, die als een uitweg voor alle mensen moet dienen, en daarmee een behoefte aan boodschappers, om deze leiding van de Schepper aan de mensheid over te brengen.

Without guidance from the Creator, mankind has no option but to fall into this predicament. Clearly then, there is a need for such guidance, to come as a way out for all the people, and thereby a need for messengers, to convey this guidance to mankind from the creator.

Voorwaar, er zijn sinds het begin van de menselijke geschiedenis boodschappers naar de mensheid gestuurd, die deze leiding brachten en de mensen smeekten om de aard van hun bestaan te erkennen en de realiteit en het doel van hun leven te begrijpen. Allah (SWT) zegt,

Indeed, messengers have been sent to mankind since the beginning of human history, carrying this guidance and imploring people to recognise the nature of their existence and to understand the reality and purpose of their lives. Allah (swt) says,.

“En voorwaardelijk hebben Wij tot elke natie een Boodschapper gezonden [met de opdracht]: ‘Aanbid Allah alleen en vermijd het kwade.’” [TMQ 16:36].

“And verily We have sent among every nation a Messenger (proclaiming) ‘Worship Allah alone, and avoid evil.’” [TMQ 16:36].

De laatste van deze boodschappers was de Profeet Muhammad ﷺ, en met zijn leiding kwam de verduidelijking van niet alleen de waarheid van dit bestaan, maar ook de gedragscode voor de mensheid om rechtvaardigheid en voorspoed te bereiken in zowel dit leven als het hierna.

The last of these messengers was Prophet Muhammad (saw) and with his guidance, came the clarification of not only the truth of this existence, but also the code of conduct for humanity to achieve justice and prosperity in both this life and the next.
