এ--- আল্লাহ, মহান ও পরাক্রমশালী বলেন: {হে ঈমানদারগণ! তোমাদের উপর সিয়াম (রোযা) ফরয করা হয়েছে}(12)

A--- Allah, the Almighty says: {O you who believe! Observing As-Sawm (the Fasting)(12)

(আল-বাকারাহ, ২:১৮৩) — যেমন তোমাদের পূর্ববর্তীদের উপর ফরয করা হয়েছিল, তেমনি তোমাদের উপর রোযা ফরয করা হয়েছে।

Is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you). (Al-Baqarah, 183)

আল্লাহ বলেন: {সুতরাং তোমাদের মধ্যে যে ব্যক্তি সেই মাস পাবে (অর্থাৎ রমযানের প্রথম রাতে চাঁদ দেখবে এবং বাড়িতে উপস্থিত থাকবে), সে যেন সেই মাসে সিয়াম (রোযা) পালন করে}। (আল-বাকারাহ, ১৮৫)

Allah says: {So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Sawm (fasts) that month}. (Al-Baqarah, 185)

হাদীসে বর্ণিত আছে, এক বেদুঈন আল্লাহর রাসূল ﷺ-কে বলল: আমাকে বলুন, আল্লাহ আমার উপর যে সিয়াম ফরজ করেছেন তা কী। তিনি ﷺ বললেন: "রমযান মাস।" প্রশ্নকারী বলল:

According to a Hadith, a Bedouin said to Allah's Messenger (Peace be upon him): Tell me the Fast that Allah makes obligatory for me. He (Peace be upon him) said: "The month of Ramadan. The inquirer said:

আমার কি এ ছাড়া আর কোনো রোজা রাখা আবশ্যক? তিনি (নবী ﷺ) বলেছেন: "না, তবে তুমি যদি নিজ ইচ্ছায় কিছু রোজা রাখো তা ভিন্ন কথা।" (সহীহ বুখারী)

Am I obliged to fast anything else besides this? He (the Prophet (Peace be upon him)) said: No, except that which you observe out of your own free will". (Sahih Bukhari)
