মুফাসসিরগণ বলেন: "মুহাইমিন" শব্দের অর্থ হলো উচ্চ মর্যাদায় বিশ্বস্ত এবং পূর্ববর্তী কিতাবসমূহের উপর সাক্ষী, যা সেগুলোর মধ্যে বিদ্যমান সত্যের সত্যায়ন করে এবং সেগুলোতে যোগ করা মিথ্যাকে প্রত্যাখ্যান করে। সুতরাং পূর্ববর্তী কিতাবের সকল আন্তরিক অনুসারীর উচিত এর (মহিমান্বিত কুরআনের) কাছে আত্মসমর্পণ করা ও নিজেদের বশীভূত করা। আল্লাহ তাআলা বলেন: {যাদেরকে এর আগে আমি কিতাব দিয়েছিলাম [অর্থাৎ তাওরাত ও ইঞ্জিল], তারা এর (কুরআনের) উপর ঈমান আনে। আর যখন এটি তাদের কাছে তিলাওয়াত করা হয়, তারা বলে: "আমরা এর উপর ঈমান এনেছি। নিশ্চয়ই এটি আমাদের প্রতিপালকের পক্ষ থেকে সত্য। এর আগেও আমরা আত্মসমর্পণকারী ছিলাম" — (যেমন আব্দুল্লাহ ইবনে সালাম ও সালমান আল-ফারসি), তারা এর উপর ঈমান আনে। আর যখন এটি তাদের কাছে তিলাওয়াত করা হয়, তারা বলে: "আমরা এর উপর ঈমান এনেছি। নিশ্চয়ই এটি আমাদের প্রতিপালকের পক্ষ থেকে সত্য। এর আগেও আমরা আত্মসমর্পণকারী ছিলাম" — (যেমন আব্দুল্লাহ ইবনে সালাম ও সালমান আল-ফারসি)}। (আল-কাসাস, ৫২, ৫৩)

Scholars of Exegesis say: Muhaimin means trustworthy in highness and a witness s over the old Scriptures testifying the truth that is therein and falsifying the falsehood that is added therein.
