[अल-मैमूनी:] मैंने कभी किसी ऐसे व्यक्ति को नहीं देखा जो इब्न हंबल जितना अपने कपड़ों को साफ़ रखता हो, या अपने बाल, मूँछ और शरीर के बाल जितनी अच्छी देखभाल करता हो, या जिसके कपड़े उनके कपड़ों जितने बेदाग़ सफ़ेद हों। 37.1

[Al-Maymūnī:] I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone who kept his clothes as clean as Ibn Ḥanbal did, or took such good care of his hair, mustache, and body hair, or anyone whose clothing was as immaculately white as his. 37.1

[अल-मर्रूदी:] अहमद कभी हम्माम (स्नानगृह) में नहीं गए। जब उन्हें शरीर के बाल हटाने की ज़रूरत होती, तो वे यह घर पर ही करते थे। मैंने कई बार उनके लिए लेप तैयार किया। मैंने उनके लिए एक चमड़े का दस्ताना भी ख़रीदा था। वे उसे पहनकर स्वयं लेप को हटा लेते थे।195 37.2

[Al-Marrūdhī:] Aḥmad never went to the bathhouse. When he needed to depilate himself, he did it at home. I prepared the paste for him more than once. I also bought him a leather glove. He would put it on and remove the paste himself.195 37.2

[Abū l-ʿAbbās:] I once prepared a depilatory paste for Aḥmad and began removing his hair. When I reached the pubic area, he took over. 37.3
