[ʿAbd Allāh:] मैंने अपने पिता को कहते सुना, “महिमा के स्वामी (प्रभु) ने मुझे स्वप्न में दर्शन दिए और मैंने उनसे पूछा कि उनके निकट पहुँचने का सबसे अच्छा तरीका क्या है। 91.1

[ʿAbd Allāh:] I heard my father say, “The Lord of Glory appeared to me in a dream and I asked Him how best to draw nearer to Him. 91.1

"मेरे कलाम के द्वारा, अहमद,” उसने कहा।

“‘Through my Speech, Aḥmad,’ He said.

"क्या हमें इसे समझना ज़रूरी है?" मैंने पूछा।

“‘Do we have to understand it?’ I asked.

"उन्होंने कहा, 'यह काम करता है, चाहे तुम इसे समझो या न समझो।'" [सदक़ah इब्न अल-फ़ज़्ल:] मैं कूफ़ा से बग़दाद जा रहा था, मेरे पास ख़र्च करने के लिए कोई पैसा नहीं था। जब मैं सरसर नहर पर पहुँचा तब तक मैं भूख से तड़प रहा था। मैं वहाँ एक मस्जिद में गया और सो गया। मेरी आँख एक आदमी के अपने पाँव से मुझे हिलाने पर खुली। वह अहमद इब्न हंबल थे। उनके साथ एक कुली था जो रोटी उठाए हुए था। 91.2

“He said, ‘It works whether you understand it or not.’” [Ṣadaqah ibn al-Faḍl:] I was traveling from Kufa to Baghdad without any money to spend. By the time I reached the Ṣarṣar Canal I was starving. I went into a mosque there and fell asleep. I woke up to find a man joggling me with his foot. It was Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal. With him was a porter carrying bread. 91.2

"मैंने कल रात एक ख़्वाब देखा," उसने कहा। "एक आवाज़ ने कहा, 'तुम्हारा दोस्त सदक़ा इब्न अल-फ़ज़्ल कूफ़ा से बुरी हालत में पहुँच गया है, तो जाकर उसकी मदद करो।'"

“Last night I had a dream,” he said. “A voice said, ‘Your friend Ṣadaqah ibn al- Faḍl has arrived from Kufa in a bad way so go help him.’”
