「アブドゥッラー：」私は父がこう言うのを聞いた。「栄光の主が夢の中で私に現れた。私は、どうすれば最も良く主に近づけるのかをお尋ねした。91」1

[ʿAbd Allāh:] I heard my father say, “The Lord of Glory appeared to me in a dream and I asked Him how best to draw nearer to Him. 91.1

「アフマドよ、私の言葉によって」と、アッラーは仰った。

“‘Through my Speech, Aḥmad,’ He said.

「『それを理解しなければならないのですか？』と私は尋ねた。」

“‘Do we have to understand it?’ I asked.

「彼は言った、『理解していようといまいと、効果はある』と。」[サダカ・イブン・アル＝ファドル:] 私はクーファからバグダードへ旅をしていたが、使えるお金は一銭もなかった。サルサル運河に着く頃には、飢えで死にそうだった。私はそこのモスクに入り、眠り込んでしまった。目を覚ますと、一人の男が足で私を揺り起こしていた。それはアハマド・イブン・ハンバルだった。彼と一緒にパンを運ぶ荷運び人がいた。91。2

“He said, ‘It works whether you understand it or not.’” [Ṣadaqah ibn al-Faḍl:] I was traveling from Kufa to Baghdad without any money to spend. By the time I reached the Ṣarṣar Canal I was starving. I went into a mosque there and fell asleep. I woke up to find a man joggling me with his foot. It was Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal. With him was a porter carrying bread. 91.2

「昨夜、夢を見たのです」と彼は言った。「ある声がこう言いました。『あなたの友人、クーファから来たサダカ・イブン・アル＝ファドルが、ひどい状態で到着した。だから助けに行きなさい』と。」

“Last night I had a dream,” he said. “A voice said, ‘Your friend Ṣadaqah ibn al- Faḍl has arrived from Kufa in a bad way so go help him.’”
