اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتا ہے: {اے ایمان والو! روزہ رکھو (12)}

A--- Allah, the Almighty says: {O you who believe! Observing As-Sawm (the Fasting)(12)

(جیسا کہ تم سے پہلے لوگوں پر فرض کیا گیا تھا)۔ [سورۃ البقرہ، 183]

Is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you). (Al-Baqarah, 183)

اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتا ہے: {پس تم میں سے جو شخص (رمضان کے مہینے کا) چاند دیکھ لے (یعنی اپنے گھر پر موجود ہو)، اسے چاہیے کہ اس مہینے میں روزہ رکھے}۔ [سورۃ البقرہ، 185]

Allah says: {So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Sawm (fasts) that month}. (Al-Baqarah, 185)

ایک حدیث کے مطابق، ایک بدوی نے اللہ کے رسول ﷺ سے کہا: مجھے اس روزے کے بارے میں بتائیے جو اللہ نے مجھ پر فرض کیا ہے۔ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: "رمضان کا مہینہ۔" پوچھنے والے نے کہا:

According to a Hadith, a Bedouin said to Allah's Messenger (Peace be upon him): Tell me the Fast that Allah makes obligatory for me. He (Peace be upon him) said: "The month of Ramadan. The inquirer said:

کیا میں اس کے علاوہ کچھ اور روزے رکھنے کا پابند ہوں؟ انہوں نے ﷺ فرمایا: "نہیں، سوائے اس کے جو تم اپنی مرضی سے رکھو"۔ [صحیح البخاری]

Am I obliged to fast anything else besides this? He (the Prophet (Peace be upon him)) said: No, except that which you observe out of your own free will". (Sahih Bukhari)
