A--- Hay dos divisiones:

A--- There are two divisions:

Primero: Adoptar métodos de adoración distintos de los prescritos por Allah, el Altísimo. Por ejemplo, los sufíes ignorantes utilizan instrumentos musicales acompañados de danza, palmas y cantos, semejantes a los de aquellos respecto de quienes Allah, el Altísimo, dice: {Y su oración en la Casa (de Allah, es decir, la Ka'bah de La Meca) no era sino silbidos y palmadas} (Al-Anfal, 35).

First: Adopting methods of worship other than those prescribed by Allah the Almighty. For instance, the ignorant Sufis use musical instruments accompanied with dance, clapping, and singing resembling those in whose regard Allah the Almighty says: {Their Salat (prayer) at the House (of Allah, i.e. the Ka'bah at Mecca) was nothing but whistling and clapping of hands). (Al-Anfal, 35)

Segundo: Adoptar como método de adoración algo originalmente lícito, pero practicado fuera de su lugar, tiempo o forma apropiados. Por ejemplo, descubrirse la cabeza está permitido durante el estado de ihram, pero si alguien que no está en ihram lo hace mientras realiza la oración, el ayuno u otros actos de adoración con la intención de acercarse a Allah por ello, esto se considera una innovación ilícita. Además, realizar oraciones voluntarias en los tiempos prohibidos y ayunar el primer día de las dos fiestas (ʿĪd).

Second: Adopting as a method of worship that is originally lawful, but it is done in other than its proper place, time, or manner. For instance, unveiling one's head is permitted while practicing Ihram, but if one who is not wearing Ihram does it while performing Prayers, Fasting or other acts of worship with the intention of drawing near to Allah thereof, this is deemed an unlawful Innovation. Besides, performing supererogatory prayers in the forbidden times, and fasting the first day of the two 'Ids.
