السنة لغةً هي الطريقة، وفي الشريعة هي اسمٌ لبعض العبادات المستحبة المنقولة عن النبي ﷺ، والسنة اسمٌ لما صدر عن رسول الله ﷺ من قولٍ وفعلٍ وإقرار، وعند الكلام على الأدلة الشرعية فإن ذلك كله هو السنة، وهو كله مما يُتلقى بالوحي، قال الله تعالى: {وَمَا يَنْطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَىٰ * إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْيٌ يُوحَىٰ} [النجم: 3-4]، وقال تعالى: {قُلْ إِنَّمَا أُنْذِرُكُمْ بِالْوَحْيِ} [الأنبياء: 45].

Al–Sunnah linguistically is the method, and in the shari'ah it is the name of some of the supererogatory worships transferred from the Prophet (SAW), and the Sunnah is the name of what came from the messenger (SAW) of saying, action and approval, when we talk about the shari'ahi evidences, all that is the sunnah and it is all what is received by the revelation, Allah Ta'ala said: {Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire} {It is no less than inspiration sent down to him} 3 Surat Al-Najm, and He Ta'ala said: to according you warn but do I :Say revelation…} 45 Surat Al-Anbia'.
