Ijarah adalah akad atas suatu manfaat dengan imbalan tertentu, dan ia terbagi menjadi tiga jenis.

Hiring is a contract for a benefit in return for compensation, and it is of three types:

Jenis pertama, yaitu ketika akad dilakukan atas manfaat benda, seperti menyewa rumah, hewan, kendaraan, dan semacamnya.

The first type—where the contract came upon the benefit of things like hiring houses, animals, vehicles and the like.

Jenis kedua—yaitu akad yang dilakukan atas manfaat dari pekerjaan, seperti para pemilik industri dan pabrik untuk pekerjaan tertentu. Yaitu akad yang dilakukan atas manfaat yang dihasilkan dari pekerjaan, seperti menyewa tukang cat, tukang besi, tukang kayu, dan sejenisnya.

The second type—where the contract came upon the benefit of work like the owners of industries and factories for specific work. That which is contracted upon the benefit resulting from the work such as hiring painters, ironmongers, carpenters and the like.

Jenis ketiga—yaitu akad yang berlaku atas manfaat seseorang, seperti menyewa pelayan dan pekerja serta sejenisnya.

The third type—where the contract came upon the benefit of the person like hiring servants and workmen and the like.

Perekrutan dalam segala jenisnya diperbolehkan oleh syariat. Allah (SWT) berfirman:

Hiring in all its types is permitted by the Shar’a. Allah (swt) said:

Dan Al-Baihaqi meriwayatkan melalui jalur Abu Hurairah (ra) bahwa Nabi ﷺ bersabda:
