निषेध वह है जिस पर कोई शरई दलील यह संकेत करती है कि शरीअत देने वाले (अश-शारि') का वह ख़िताब है जिसमें किसी काम से दूर रहने की निर्णायक माँग की गई हो। जो व्यक्ति उसे करता है वह शरई दृष्टि से दोषी (मुस्तहिक़-ए-मलामत) ठहरता है, और यह शब्द अल-महज़ूर के समानार्थी है।

The prohibition is that which textual evidence indicates upon as being the address of the legislator with a decisive request to abstain from an action. The one who performs it is legally blameworthy, and it is synonymous with al-mahdhūr.
