How the Qur’an was revealed
কুরআন নাযিল হয়েছিল নবী মুহাম্মাদ ﷺ-এর উপর ২৩ বছরের সময়কালে, কিস্তিতে (অংশে অংশে)। এটি কোনো নির্দিষ্ট ধারায় নাযিল হয়নি; কখনো একের পর এক ধারাবাহিকভাবে আসত, আবার কখনো বিলম্ব হতো বা ওহীর মধ্যে দীর্ঘ বিরতি থাকত। সর্বপ্রথম যে অংশটি নাযিল হয়েছিল তা ছিল সূরা আল-আলাক থেকে, এবং তা ছিল তাঁর (আল্লাহ সুবহানাহু ওয়া তা'আলার) এই বাণী:
The Qur’aan was revealed upon the Nabi Muhammad (saw) in instalments (in parts) over a period of 23 years. It did not descend upon a regular pattern; sometimes it would come consecutively whilst at other times it would be delayed or there would be long gaps between the revelations. The first to be revealed was from Soorah Al- ‘Alaq and this was His Qawl Ta’Aalaa:
পড়ুন আপনার প্রতিপালকের নামে, যিনি সৃষ্টি করেছেন। সৃষ্টি করেছেন মানুষকে জমাট রক্তপিণ্ড থেকে। পড়ুন, আর আপনার প্রতিপালক মহাদানশীল। যিনি কলমের মাধ্যমে শিক্ষা দিয়েছেন। শিক্ষা দিয়েছেন মানুষকে, যা সে জানত না। (আল-আলাক ১-৫)
Read in the name of your Lord who created. Created man from a clot. Read and your Lord is the Most Generous. Who taught by the pen. Taught the human that which he did not know (Al-‘Alaq 1-5).
