1 – Pengetahuan tentang hakikat Masalah (persoalan) yang hendak dicari hukumnya.

1 – Knowledge of the reality of the Mas’alah (issue) for which the derivation of the Hukm is being sought.

2 – Pengetahuan tentang nash-nash Syar'iyah yang berkaitan dengan masalah tersebut.

2 – Knowledge of the Shar’iyah texts related to the Mas’alah.

3 – Pengerahan usaha sampai titik di mana sang Mujtahid merasa dirinya tidak mampu melakukan lebih dari itu.

3 – Expending of effort where the Mujtahid feels that he is incapable of more.

Itu berkaitan dengan istinbāṭ (penggalian) hukum syar'i dari nash-nash yang berkaitan dengan permasalahan tersebut, dengan memanfaatkan bidang-bidang ilmu bahasanya dan bidang-bidang ilmu syar'iyahnya yang diperlukan secara mutlak untuk istinbāṭ tertentu itu.

That relates to the Istinbaat (derivation) of the Hukm Ash-Shar’iy from the texts related to the issue utilising his linguistic areas of knowledge and his Shar’iyah areas of knowledge that are necessarily required for that particular Istinbaat (deduction).
