The meaning of Al-Ijmaa’:

Al-Ijmaa’ linguistically:
یہ کسی معاملے پر عزم یا ارادہ اور اتفاق ہے۔ یہ عزم ایک (شخص) کی طرف سے صادر ہونا درست ہے اور یہ معنی رسول ﷺ کے قول میں پائے جاتے ہیں:
It is the determination or resolve upon a matter and agreement. This resolve is valid to emanate from one (person) and this meaning is found in the Qawl of the Messenger (saw):
"جس نے فجر سے پہلے (یعنی) روزہ رکھنے کا ارادہ نہ کیا، تو اس کا کوئی روزہ نہیں" (سنن کے مرتب کرنے والوں نے روایت کیا ہے)۔
“Whoever does not resolve (i.e. intend) the fasting before Fajr, then there is no fasting for him” (related by the compilers of the Sunan).
جس طرح ایک سے زیادہ کے لیے استعمال ہونا درست ہے، جیسا کہ اللہ تعالیٰ کے اس قول میں ہے:
Just as it is valid to be used for more than one like in His Qawl Ta’Aalaa:
پس اپنے ساتھیوں کے ساتھ مل کر اپنے منصوبے پر عزم کر لو (یونس 71)۔
So resolve upon your plan along with your associates (Younus 71).
جس کا مطلب ہے اپنے ساتھیوں کے ساتھ اتفاق و رائے برقرار رکھتے ہوئے فیصلہ کرنا۔
Which means resolve whilst being in agreement with your associates.
